  • Ahold USA shares health screening report card

    Officials at AholdUSA are quite proud of the success of their health screening program. And with good reason. In 2017 alone, the company reports that it provided nearly 36,000 health screenings and more than 20,000 immunization recommendations to roughly 14,000 patients. All of this was done at no charge to the customers, officials note.

  • CVS Health launches state-by-state Impact Dashboard

    A new online resource from CVS Health is showcasing the company’s impact on communities. The CVS Health Impact Dashboard is designed to show how the Woonsocket, R.I.-based company supports health care in each state, officials said.

    The tool shows the number of employees CVS Health has in each state, as well as store and clinic counts and local organizations supported by its charitable efforts. The data, which also includes drug collection units for disposing of unwanted medication, can be shown on the national level as well.

  • Diplomat: Second PBM acquisition in 2 weeks signals shift to ‘disruptive’ approach

    Diplomat Pharmacy is continuing its growth and diving head-first into the pharmacy benefits management business with its plan to acquire Leehar Distributors, which does business as LDI Integrated Pharmacy Services. The acquisition of LDI marks Diplomat’s second PBM acquisition this month, having acquired National Pharmaceutical Services on Nov. 6. 

  • Rite Aid names new SVP of store operations in its Western division

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid on Tuesday promoted Rob Mullins, Rite Aid's current divisional pharmacy vice president of the company's Western division, to the role of senior vice president of store operations of the Western division. He succeeds Bill Romine, who is retiring from Rite Aid after more than 20 years of service.

  • Michigan Pharmacists Association, MedCerts partner to certify pharmacy technicians

    LIVONIA, Mich. — Online healthcare and IT certification training school MedCerts is partnering with the Michigan Pharmacists Association for an effort that it says will bring higher-level training to pharmacy technicians. The partnership will offer state associations across the United States discounted access to online training for members to achieve certification goals, MedCerts said.

  • CVS Health expands apprenticeship program footprint, hiring goals

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health is expanding the states participating in its apprenticeship program and set a new apprentice hiring goal. The company said it anticipates hiring 5,000 new apprentices by 2022 as it welcomes Arizona, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania to its program, bringing its total number of statewide programs to 18.

  • CVS Health offers diabetes management support for American Diabetes Month

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health is marking American Diabetes Month by emphasizing efforts patients can undertake to manage their conditions, as well as the services the company offers to make diabetes management easier.

    The company said patients with diabetes should manage their diet and engage in a healthy lifestyle — including at least 30 minutes of exercise daily — in an effort to manage their blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol. CVS pharmacists also can offer information and product suggestions to aid lifestyle management, CVS Health said.

  • Poll: Majority of Ontario patients trust pharmacists with MMJ dispensing

    TORONTO, Ontario — A new poll commissioned by the Ontario Pharmacists Association has found that patients in the province would trust their pharmacist to dispense medical marijuana. The poll, which comes as the OPA pushes for regulatory changes that would allow pharmacists to dispense medical cannabis, found that 70% of patients think pharmacists should be involved in doing so.
