ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, on Thursday announced plans for a national tour this fall to advance the Test2Learn Community-Based Pharmacogenomics Certificate Program.

McKesson ideaShare 2016 wrapped up Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 to 29, with more CE sessions, Sunrise Sessions, peer networking events, the RxOwnership luncheon and the Public Policy Forum. The event ended with a historic bang for owner/operators and their families at the Final Night Party at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History.

Since it began in 2008, McKesson’s RxOwnership has helped more than 3,500 pharmacy owners buy, sell or start their own pharmacy business in an attempt to, as RxOwnership national VP Chris Cella told Drug Store News, “keep independents independent.” Cella participated in an “Ask the Experts” panel with three longtime RxOwnership collaborators at McKesson ideaShare 2016 to help potential pharmacy owners and sellers understand RxOwnership’s services and the work required to break into being a small business owner.

It is by now a well-established fact that the healthcare landscape is currently undergoing a massive shift from a fee-for-service to a value-based payment model, and that will create new opportunities for community pharmacy to play an expanded role in healthcare delivery, helping to drive improved health outcomes and opening up new revenue streams. The challenge for the independent owner is how to implement the host of new clinical services that will be required to participate in this expanded pharmacy care model — and where to begin.

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) today announced the nine recipients of this year's pharmacy student scholarships. Each winner has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship, totaling $13,500 in IPC future independent pharmacy support.

OutcomesMTM, one of the newest companies of Cardinal Health, will be on hand at Cardinal Health RBC 2016 to share information and answer questions from attendees about its solutions for pharmacists who want to incorporate clinical services into their pharmacies as a way to help patients lead healthy lives.
