  • CVS teams up with Mass. nonprofit to train young mothers

    Eight young moms in the Boston area are getting a new start in life after completing a pharmacy technician training program through a partnership with CVS Health and a Massachusetts nonprofit, according to the Boston Globe.

    The nonprofit, Roca, aims to keep high-risk young men and women out of jail and off the streets, and to give them a future, according to the Globe.

  • Fred’s promotes Liebmann to new COO pharmacy position

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s on Friday announced that it had promoted its VP pharmacy services, Timothy Liebmann, to the newly created position of COO pharmacy, effective immediately. Liebmann will be succeeding the company’s retiring EVP pharmacy operations, Rick Chambers.
     
  • Walgreens brings safe medication disposal kiosk program to Oregon

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens on Wednesday added its safe medication disposal kiosk program to its locations in Oregon with the installation of drug take-back kiosks at six Walgreens drug stores across the state. The launch is part of Walgreens effort, announced in February, to install safe medication disposal kiosks at more than 500 of its drugstores around the country.

  • Ateb, iMedicare team on plan comparison integration

    NEW YORK — Pharmacy technology solutions company Ateb and Medicare plan comparison software maker iMedicare on Thursday announced a new partnership that will integrate iMedicare into Ateb’s Patient Management Access Portal. The integration will allow pharmacies to facilitate viewing and comparing Medicare plan options so patients can choose the best one for them during the Medicare Part D enrollment process, the companies said. 
     
  • Women in Pharmacy events foster future owners

    By 2025, it’s expected that 2-in-3 pharmacists will be women, but that ratio doesn’t carry into the realm of pharmacy ownership. That is why Cardinal Health Women in Pharmacy has taken up the task of turning more female pharmacists into pharmacy owners, and at Cardinal Health RBC 2016, there were various events and educational offerings for attendees to help women through the process of owning a pharmacy.

    Standing in the Chicago Cultural Center underneath the largest Tiffany glass dome in the world, Cardinal Health VP Medicine Shoppe International, Inc. John Fiacco presented seven Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy and Medicap Pharmacy franchisees with Operational Excellence, Clinical Innovation and Professional Achievement awards. He also named the MSI Franchisee of the Year.
