  • Fruth honors employees with 26th annual awards

    POINT PLEASANT, W.V. — Fruth Pharmacy recently honored its employees with its Annual Service Awards, marking the 26th year the company has celebrated its employees’ accomplishments and years of service. Awards were given out for Manager of the Year, Pharmacist of the Year, Pharmacy Technician of the Year and Associate of the Year. The company also honored employees for years of service in five-year increments.
     
  • Mobile app helps patients, cos. increase adherence

    Diabetics are most adherent around meal times, especially during breakfast and toward the beginning of the week, according to a review of Medisafe’s more than 160,000 diabetes patients who utilize its adherence tool in an effort to better manage the condition.

  • Survey: Moms sweat their child's fever more than any other symptom

    MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - Despite their generational differences, three out of four gen X and millennial moms list fever as their No. 1 concern when caring for their sick children, far above other symptoms of illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, chills, coughing and headache, Braun reported Tuesday. All told, 74% of all moms surveyed said they were either extremely or very concerned about fever in their children.

  • Veterans prefer retail pharmacy over VA pharmacies

    COSTA MESA, Calif. - As retail pharmacy celebrates America's military veterans on Friday, those veterans are celebrating retail pharmacy, at least those brick-and-mortar pharmacies not located within a VA medical center, a recent J.D. Power survey found.

    One reason? The ordering process. Veterans were more satisfied with retail brick-and-mortar pharmacies as compared to medical center pharmacies.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Through Dec. 7, Fred’s Pharmacy will be offering Medicare Part D plan comparisons and resources at its 371 locations, the company announced Tuesday. 
     
  • Aralez completes acquisition of U.S. rights to Toprol-XL, authorized generic

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Specialty pharmacy company Aralez Pharmaceuticals on Monday announced the completion of its acquisition of the U.S. rights to AstraZeneca’s extended-release beta blocker, Toprol-XL (metoprolol succinate) and its authorized generic. Aralez paid $175 million at closing.
