  • Target names Gomez EVP and chief marketing officer

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target promoted Rick Gomez to EVP and chief marketing officer, effective Jan. 29.

    In this role, Gomez will be responsible for furthering Target’s brand positioning and leading the integration of all marketing programs. He will oversee marketing and media strategy, creative, marketing communications, guest research, loyalty, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility efforts.

  • Chips Ahoy! adds two flavors to THINS product line

    NEW YORK — Chips Ahoy! will add two new flavors to its THINS product line: Oatmeal and Double Chocolate. The product line first launched in the summer of 2016.

    To celebrate the product launch, Chips Ahoy! THINS has created an oversized cookie jar at the Time Warner Center in New York City. Measuring 10-feet tall, and one-foot thick, the custom cookie jar will be filled with new Chips Ahoy! THINS in Oatmeal and Double Chocolate flavor varieties.

    CHICAGO — Wrigley introduced two new gum products, Orbit White and Doublemint Perfectly Sweet, as well as its “Chew To A Better You” shopping marketing campaign.

    The two new gum products are intended to provide oral health benefits as well as a low-calorie treat sweetened with real sugar.

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Mountain Dew introduced its new global “Do the Dew” campaign, centered around the belief that “there’s no feeling like doing.”

    The campaign is set to appear in 20 countries throughout the world, kicking off Monday with the first piece in its series, “Fade Away,” which premiered on social media and television.

  • Maybelline names first male ambassador

    NEW YORK — Beauty vlogger Manny Gutierrez has been named Maybelline’s first male brand ambassador.

    The makeup artist took to Instagram to share his excitement about the announcement.     

    “2017, you are off to an AMAZING START OMG! So excited to finally announce that I am part of the @maybelline #bigshotmascara campaign! Honestly I couldn't be more honored thrilled! Thank you to Maybelline for taking a chance on me! I look forward to working together so much more,” Gutierrez wrote.

  • Coca-Cola sued for allegedly ‘deceiving consumers’ about sugar-sweetened beverages

    ATLANTA — A lawsuit filed on behalf of the nonprofit profit group Praxis Project in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California claims Coca-Cola and trade organization the American Beverage Association are “deceiving consumers about the harms of consuming Coke and other sugar-sweetened beverages.”
