  • Cracker Jack'D announces new trail mix

    PLANO, TX — Cracker Jack'D, a brand from Frito-Lay, announced the addition of Energy Trail Mixes to its line of products. The snack, available in Chocolate Flavored Cherry and Mixed Berry, will hit shelves this month.

    The new trail mixes include a unique packaging structure that hold fruit bits in a separate pouch within the larger package, which helps to keep them tasting fresh while also ensuring that the granola and nuts stay crunchy. The seasoned mixed snack is ideal for young adults on the go, the company said.

  • Lip care creates purchase occasions

    Premium positioning and design are a pair of driving factors contributing to the success of lip care, which generated $650.4 million in overall sales, up 15.8%, for the 52 weeks ended Jan. 26 across U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI. Case in point is EOS, which revolutionized the lip balm category with new delivery formats. EOS’ overall brand family of products generated $85.5 million in sales, up 125.2%, and commanded a 13.1% dollar share of the category.

  • Food Lion offering shoppers chance to name private-brand sodas

    SALISBURY, N.C. — Want to name a private-brand soda? Food Lion is betting that some of its shoppers will want to do just that so it has kicked off the “You Name it” contest.

    Now through April 27, Food Lion customers can name their favorite private brand soda flavors for a chance to win prizes.

    To participate, customers submit their suggested names for Food Lion brand root beer, ginger ale, orange soda, grape soda and fruit punch. One entry per soda per day is allowed in order to offer multiple opportunities to win prizes.

    WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Dole, a producer of fruits and vegetables, and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze, a brand from Blue Diamond Growers, are launching simultaneous Peel the Love Banana Cabana Tours in 2014. The tour will play up the versatility and fun of bananas and offer new ways to add fresh produce to summer meals, snacks and entertaininment plans, the company said.

  • Living Essentials to support Special Operations Warrior Foundation with limited edition 5-hour Energy

    FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Living Essentials, on Monday announced its support of military causes with the introduction of a new, limited edition cherry flavor of 5-hour Energy. From May 1 through July 31, 2014, Living Essentials will donate five cents from the sale of every specially marked red, white and blue bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour Energy to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports the military's special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services and financial stipends.
