  • Natrol featured on 'Ellen'; Sundance Film Festival next

    CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres included several Natrol nutritional products as part of her top five "12 Days of Giveaways" bonus items on "Ellen," Natrol announced Wednesday.

    "Ellen is a shining example of the type of customers we stand for as a company — a successful, fast-paced person who values a healthy lifestyle and wants to ensure that the nutritional products they trust to use are as safe, natural, fast-acting and effective as possible," Natrol's senior director of marketing Lisa Sheppard said.

  • Jonathan Adler takes his designs to the toilet

    DALLAS — Toilet paper brand Cottonelle has expanded its line of toilet paper roll covers with three new designs created by interior designer Jonathan Adler.

    The three designs, which are part of Cottonelle's spring collection, feature a variety of color and patterns in an effort to change consumers' view on toilet paper.

  • Shoppers on a tighter leash

    The recession has taken a toll on the pet category, according to some companies. A recent report from Cascadia Capital revealed that 35% of consumers said they curtailed pet expenditures in 2011 due to the economy. Spending on pets is expected to hit the $50 billion mark in 2011, an increase of 5% over 2010, according to the American Pet Products Association. Packaged Facts predicted that the industry will grow 5.9% in 2012.


  • Weis Markets presents $100,000 to Wounded Warrior Project

    BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — Weis Markets on Monday presented $100,000 to Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that raises awareness and enlists public support for the needs of injured service members.

    This donation is part of the national Believe in Heroes initiative and is the result of a joint, in-store promotion between Weis Markets and Wounded Warrior Project. In support of this program, Weis customers purchased more than 100,000 Believe in Heroes silicone bracelets in November.

  • 'The Adventures of Tintin' becomes sweet treat, thanks to My Idolpops

    LOS ANGELES — A new line of licensed confections based on the upcoming film "The Adventures of Tintin" is making its debut.

    My Idolpops has teamed up with DreamWorks Studios and Paramount Pictures to make a line of lollipops modeled after the characters in the film, which debuts in theaters Dec. 21. The company said it uses custom-designed proprietary molds to create pops that exhibit the actual shape of licensed brands, characters or logos.

  • Walgreens touts Redbox movie rentals giveaway

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens will reward 1 million customers at its stores nationwide on Thanksgiving Day with a free one-day Redbox DVD rental, the drug store chain announced.

    The DVD rental, which will be given to the first 130 customers (not including prescription purchases) at the chain's more than 7,700 locations, will be valid at all Walgreens Redbox locations from Thanksgiving Day through Dec. 24.
