  • M&Ms, CandyRific sweeten up rock ‘n roll with musical candy

    CandyRific has “chord-inated” with M&Ms to bring candy-lovers Rockstars, a new line of music-making candy starting Jan. 1.

    The line offers two options: “Red” M&M playing the guitar and “Blue” playing the saxophone. The packaging plays music and contains a fun-sized bag of M&Ms chocolate candy in the base. M&Ms Brand Rockstars are available at the start of 2012 for a suggested retail price of $5.99.

    IRVING, Texas — Kimberly-Clark is making toilet paper covers fashionable with new Cottonelle toilet paper roll covers. The toilet paper roll covers, which are available online at RespectTheRoll.com and through Cottonelle’s Facebook page, have been produced in three colorful designs and have been a hit with consumers.


    At the height of website traffic, more than 72 requests per minute have been recorded for the covers. Through the Facebook page, Kimberly-Clark is giving away 25,000 additional roll covers. Roll covers will be on sale online for $4 each starting Nov. 1.

  • Portland, Ore., wins Safeway's 'America's Most Natural City' FB contest

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway on Monday named Portland, Ore., as the winner of its "America's Most Natural City" contest and will donate $20,000 and 25 picnic tables constructed from the Guinness World Record holder for the world's longest picnic table.

    The contest was inspired by Safeway's commitment to 100% natural products with its new Open Nature line, the grocer stated.

  • Brillo, BCRF continue partnership

    WALLED LAKE, Mich. — Brillo once again has teamed up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

    As part of their continued partnership, Brillo will donate 5 cents of each purchase of specially marked packages of Brillo steel wool soap pads and Brillo Estracell sponges, up to $50,000. This year marks the second time the brand and the BCRF have joined forces.

  • After 4-month split, M&M's spokescandies reunite

    HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — After announcing that its M&M's spokescandies went their separate ways, Mars Chocolate said that they are back together.

    M&M's enlisted the help of consumers to reunite the chocolate icons, which include Yellow, Red, Blue, Orange and Ms. Green, through its "Reunite M" promotion. Consumers were awarded prizes valued at more than $1.5 million, including $100,000 to one individual, when they purchased select packages of M&M's brand chocolate candies and looking for all five characters under the wrapper.

  • Clif Bar targets college students through social media

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Clif Bar on Thursday will begin rewarding college students who follow the brand through social media with a Clif Bar Energy Pack that includes Clif Bar bars, fitness tips, water bottles and other items for outdoor recreation.

    “Clif Bar wants college students to know that getting outdoors for an active study break isn’t just a good idea for physical health, but can help you stay mentally sharp in the classroom," said Carly Lutz, brand director at Clif brands.
