    WAUKESHA, Wis. — Hamacher Resource Group this week announced that it had received a Communicator Award of Distinction for its 2016 holiday video in the branded content business-to-business category.

  • Weis Markets reports Q1 sales increase of 15.4%

    SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets earlier this week reported a sales increase of 15.4% to $852.2 million in the first quarter. Comparable store sales, adjusting for the New Year's and Easter holiday shift in 2017, increased 1.1%, the company reported, representing the grocer's 12th consecutive quarter of increased comparable store sales.

    During the 13-week period ended April 1, net income declined 41.2% to $11.8 million while earnings per share totaled $0.44 compared to $0.75 in 2016.

  • Hallmark readies for Mother’s Day with new offerings, marketing campaign

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As Mother’s Day approaches, Hallmark is rolling out its latest greeting card innovation, as well as new designs for its Signature line of cards. The company notes that in the U.S., 113 million cards are exchanged for Mother’s Day, with data from the National Retail Federation showing that the day is second only to Christmas in participation.

  • Red Carpet Manicure debuts ‘Beauty and the Beast’-inspired collection

    NEW YORK — With the live-action adaption of Disney’s “Beauty & The Beast” set to hit theaters March 16, Red Carpet Manicure has unveiled its limited-edition collection of nail polish inspired by the film. The light-activated collection of gel colors is based on costumes and palettes in the movie. 
     
  • Essie partners with bridal designer on gel couture bridal collection

    NEW YORK — Essie is teaming up with couture bridal designer Monique Lhuillier on its essie gel couture bridal collection. The collection adds to the company’s two-step gel manicure product line, which it launched last year, and is essie’s first collaboration with a bridal designer. 
     
  • Flu activity drops from a high of 5.2%, CDC reports

    ATLANTA — The 2016/2017 influenza season has peaked. Influenza activity decreased slightly but remained elevated in the United States for the week ended Feb. 18, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday.

    Influenza-like activity reported through the U.S. Outpatient Influenza-like Illness Surveillance Network  dropped from 5.2% patient visits attributed to influenza-like illness nationwide to 4.8% for the week. The national baseline is 2.2%.

  • Walgreens Flu Index tracks latest flu activity gains across South Atlantic states

    DEERFIELD, Ill.— Parts of the South Atlantic are heating up in terms of flu, according to the latest Walgreens Flu Index heat map released Wednesday. Significant flu activity gains are being reported across North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia, Walgreens noted.
