  • Oscar Mayer debuts new protein packs

    MADISON, Wis. — Oscar Mayer, a Kraft Foods Group brand, announced the introduction of the new P3 Portable Protein Pack, which the company designed for active consumers looking for a snack to help get them through the day.

    The company says the new protein packs are positioned to become a major item in the protein-snacking category, which has enjoyed growth thanks to consumer desires for protein-filled snacks like Greek yogurt and protein bars. The on-the-go packs are made of three brands: Oscar Mayer Selects Meats, Kraft Natural Cheeses and Planters Nuts.

  • Swiffer debuts new cleaning tool

    CINCINNATI — Jewel, an acclaimed singer and songwriter, joined Swiffer on Thursday to celebrate the debut of the new Swiffer Sweep and Trap, which features soft rotating beater blades that are designed to scoop up large particles into a removable dirt bin for quick disposal.

  • Yankee Candle adds to Relaxing Rituals line

    SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — The Yankee Candle Co. announced the addition of a new fragrance blend to its Relaxing Rituals line. The fifth scent, which the company named Uplift, was created with a blend of grapefruit, lemon and ginger.

  • Jack Link’s expands footprint

    NEW GLARUS, Wis. — Jack Link’s plans to purchase Unilever’s meat snacks business, primarily sold under the BiFi brand (Germany, Benelux, Austria and Switzerland) and the Peperami brand (UK and Ireland). The sale is expected to close by the end of March.

    Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, also includes the manufacturing facility in Ansbach, Germany.

  • American Licorice announces new fruit candies

    LA PORTE, Ind. — American Licorice Co. has announced the launch of Fruit Vines Bites — bite-size, chewy candies with a fruit flavor.

    "We wanted to develop a soft, chewy, fruity candy that would appeal to candy lovers everywhere," said Stephanie Louie, Red Vines brand manager. "The bite size pieces are perfect for a quick treat to help everyone bring a sweet celebration to their day."  

  • Poll: Drug stores among favorite place to buy groceries

    NEW YORK — A recent poll of U.S. millennial, gen X and Baby Boomer consumers found that traditional retail categories are increasingly blurring, and more and more shoppers are turning to drug stores to buy groceries.

    Retail design firm King Retail Solutions conducted the fall 2013 study among more than 1,200 consumers.

  • Doritos snack gets fiery flavor

    PLANO, TX — Doritos, a brand from PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division, announced an addition to its Dinamita rolled tortilla chip line. The new Doritos Dinamita Fiery Habanero chips feature spicy habanero peppers and hints of chili and red peppers, all in a rolled tortilla chip.

    The new rolled tortilla chips are now available at retailers in select locations throughout the United States and come in three sizes: a 1.125-oz. bag for a SRP of $0.50, a 4-oz. bag for a SRP of $1.49, and a 9.25-oz. bag for a SRP of $2.99.

  • Bear Naked expands flavor offerings

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Bear Naked — a supplier of granola, trail mix and cookies — has introduced the new Honey Almond Protein flavor, which combines whole-grain oats, honey and roasted almonds and packs 10 g of protein per serving.
