    PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Post has expanded its Honey Bunches of Oats cereal lineup with a new variety.

    New Honey Bunches of Oats Fruit Blends features a fruit flavor on the crispy flakes and another baked into the signature crunchy granola bunches. The cereal currently is available in peach raspberry and banana blueberry flavors.

    Honey Bunches of Oats Fruit Blends are available in 14.5-oz. and 18-oz. family size at grocery stores nationwide.

  • Hostess files for Chapter 11

    NEW YORK — The maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

    Irving, Texas-based Hostess Brands carried $860 million in debt and also faced high labor costs and rising prices for sugar and other ingredients that exceeded its annual sales of about $2.5 billion, according to published reports. Hostess previously filed for bankruptcy protection in 2004 and emerged in 2009.

  • Deep Foods gains halal certification for frozen chicken, lamb dishes

    UNION, N.J. — A maker of frozen Indian cuisine has gained halal certification for all of its chicken and lamb dishes through the Islamic Society of North America.

    Deep Foods said it obtained halal certification to reach a wider range of consumers. The certification will be called out on the packaging of its chicken and lamb dishes, Deep Foods said.
