GLENDALE, Calif. — Just in time for Easter celebrations, Nestlé USA Confections and Snacks has unveiled a handful of new offerings available in retail stores nationwide.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Energems, a new "energy bite" made with real milk chocolate is hitting store shelves this spring, the company announced today. Charlotte, N.C., has been selected as the official city to unveil the new energy supplement, with expansion to other retail locations coming soon.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Pinnacle Foods' Duncan Hines has added 15 new springtime recipes for adults and kids, the company said today.

"Duncan Hines strives to provide inspiring, innovative creations for our passionate bakers," said Joe DiPaolo, senior research chef for Duncan Hines. "Our Easter Egg Cupcakes are great for families to bake together. They are easy to make, but they are sure to impress as gifts or to decorate the dinner table for Easter."

NEW YORK — A new hybrid grapefruit removes the chemicals that interact with dozens of drugs and have led many to stop eating the fruit, according to published reports.

Reuters reported that Florida researchers had created a grapefruit, called UF914, that mostly removes chemicals known as furanocoumarins, which can interact with more than 80 drugs, including causing serious side effects in patients taking 43 notably statin drugs for cholesterol.

 PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Post Foods is launching a new flavor of its Grape-Nuts cereal, Grape-Nuts Fit, the company announced on Tuesday.

Grape-Nuts Fit is a new cereal made with an assortment of flavors and textures, including lightly crunchy nuggets, granola, cranberries, puffed barley and natural vanilla flavor. The new cereal boasts 6 g of protein and 42 g of whole grains.

NEW YORK — A judge in New York has blocked a controversial law banning the sale of large-sized sugary drinks, according to published reports.

The New York Times reported that state Supreme Court justice Milton Tingling invalidated the law. Mayor Michael Bloomberg had pushed the rule as a way to promote healthier diets for New Yorkers, but it attracted widespread criticism as intrusive.
