  • iHealth Lab adds new products and partners to mobile personal healthcare offering

    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — iHealth Lab Inc., today announced the release of two new fitness products to its existing lineup of wireless blood-pressure monitors and scales: the Wireless Pulse Oximeter and the Wireless Activity and Sleep Tracker. The company also announced new partnerships with two health and fitness communities, MyFitnessPal and RunKeeper.

  • Bartell's partners with local charity for summer food drive

    SEATTLE — Regional chain Bartell Drugs will sponsor a food drive starting on Sunday, the company said.

    The Seattle-based retailer said Friday that it would partner with Food Lifeline to sponsor the Bartell's Community Food Drive, which will last through June 1.

  • Reports: Target tests online movie, TV streaming

    NEW YORK — Target is looking to compete with the likes of Netflix and Hulu with a video-streaming service it is beta testing with employees, according to published reports.

    The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reported that the mass merchandise retailer was testing Target Ticket, which currently offers access to 15,000 movies and TV shows. Features of the new service include parental controls, streaming and downloading for playback on desktop computers and mobile devices.

  • Brookshire's heralds new Super 1 Foods with grand opening event

    WINNSBORO, Texas — On May 1, Brookshire's Grocery Co. held a grand opening ceremony for a new Super 1 Foods located at 9 Fair Ave. here with a ribbon-cutting event. The company converted the store, which it purchased last year, from the Kaye's Fod Market format.

    On hand for the ribbon-cutting was Chamber of Commerce president Dustin Wright and Brookshire Grocery Co. president and CEO Rick Rayford. Super 1 Foods Store Director Josh Black presented donation checks totaling $1,000 each to Franklin Parish High School and Dixie Youth Baseball.

    WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — Merck Consumer Care, the makers of Coppertone, launched today the "Making the Sunscreen Grade" program to equip parents with tools to help their children develop lifelong sun habits, including those that protect them from the sun during the school day.

  • Meijer to sell cupcake stands in school colors

    NILES, Mich. — Meijer will sell cupcake stands customized in local school colors under a partnership with the stands' Michigan-based manufacturer.

    Niles, Mich.-based Cupcaketree.com announced a deal with Meijer, in which the mass merchandise retailer will sell the stands alongside its baked goods. The company has been selling the stands since 2001.

  • Shoppers Drug Mart touts products, education for summer

    TORONTO — Canadian retail pharmacy chain Shoppers Drug Mart is offering a range of products for the summer, as well as tips for enjoying the season safely.

    The 1,240-store chain said it would offer a selection of products for outdoor entertaining, road trips, summer beauty and first aid and information on choosing the right sunscreen, sunglasses and barbecue recipes.
