SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved what's being called the first therapy of its kind to prevent bleeding episodes.

The FDA announced Thursday the approval of Westlake Village, Calif.-based Baxter Healthcare Corp.'s Rixubis (coagulation factor IX [recombinant]) for patients with hemophilia B age 16 years and older. The treatment is used for controlling and preventing bleeding episodes, management of patients after surgery and routine use to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes.

PHOENIX — Starbucks Corp.'s Seattle's Best Coffee and food manufacturer Inventure Foods on Wednesday announced new Seattle's Best Coffee Frozen Coffee Blends, available in grocery, club and mass merchandise stores nationwide.

NEW YORK — Onco360 is joining the limited-distribution network for two newly approved cancer drugs made by GlaxoSmithKline, the specialty pharmacy company said.

The New York-based company said it had been selected as a distributor of Tafinlar (dabrafenib) and Mekinist (trametinib). The drugs were approved as standalone therapies, not a combined therapy.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has launched a generic version of a Johnson & Johnson contraceptive, the company said Wednesday.

Mylan announced the launch of norethindrone tablets in the 0.35 mg strength. The drug is a generic version of Micronor, made by J&J subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals. A company partnering with Mylan on the drug, Famy Care, received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the drug.

Various versions of the drug had sales of about $57.2 million during the 12-month period that ended in March, according to IMS Health.

NEWTON, Mass. — The latest version of a software package made by McKesson for payers allows for innovative payment strategies while supporting detection of waste, fraud and abuse, the company said.

LANGHORNE, Pa. — Drug supply company ScripsAmerica has entered a marketing and distribution deal for a line of OTC pain relievers and fever reducers.

ScripsAmerica said Wednesday that it had made an agreement with DPG Distribution, which provides global sales, marketing and distribution for high-end retail consumer products, for the RapiMed line. DPG's clients include Walgreens, Target, ShopRite, Walmart and Costco. ScripsAmerica plans to launch RapiMed in September. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

NEW YORK — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and Mylan have launched generic versions of Pfizer's Viagra in nearly a dozen European countries, the two companies said.

Teva, based in Jerusalem, announced the launch of generic sildenafil tablets in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Denmark. The company already markets generic versions of the erectile dysfunction drug in Spain and Canada.

CINCINNATI — Little Busy Bodies on Wednesday announced it has finalized a licensing agreement with Procter & Gamble. Under the agreement, Little Busy Bodies, creators of the popular Boogie Wipes, will make and market a line of saline-infused products under the Puffs brand.
