  • Albertsons, Wegmans named EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year 2017 winners

    WASHINGTON — The Environmental Protection Agency has recognized two retailers in its annual Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards. The recognition for 2017 went to Albertsons and Publix for their work promoting the Safer Choice Program to their customers.

  • Kroger recognized for commitment to employee wellness

    CINCINNATI — Kroger on Monday was honored by the Cincinnati Business Courier as a 2017 Healthiest Employer.  The award recognizes the company for its commitment to the health and wellness of its more than 443,000 associates.

  • NACDS, HDA speak out against importation of pharmaceuticals

    WASHINGTON — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores and the Healthcare Distribution Alliance on Monday submitted a joint op-ed that was published by The Hill regarding the inherent risks of importing drugs from foreign markets.

    Allowing the importation of pharmaceuticals from foreign markets is not a health cost panacea, argued John Gray, president and CEO HDA, and Steven Anderson president and CEO NACDS, and in fact would undo current legislation designed to maintain the integrety of the closed pharmaceutical supply chain in the U.S.

  • Walgreens invests in high-tech customer contact center

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Walgreens is seeking to fill as many as 150 customer care advisor positions at its high-tech customer contact center in Muscle Shoals, Ala., pushing the total workforce at the Northwest Alabama facility to around 600, officials from the Alabama Department of Commerce announced last month.

    Shoals officials said the customer contact center is a major employer in the region and its expansion is welcome news.

  • Schnucks names Peacock president, COO

    ST. LOUIS — Schnucks Markets has tapped an Anheuser-Busch veteran to lead its operations, merchandising and communications. The chain’s CEO and chairman Todd Schnuck named David Peacock, a former Anheuser-Busch president to be its president and COO on Thursday. Peacock has been a director of the company since 2013.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Amazon’s signature Dash button may be getting some competition from a rival very soon.
     
    A patent filing by Walmart reveals that the retail giant could be developing an Internet of Things-based device that tracks how shoppers use products in their homes and then electronically reorders merchandise.
