  • Walgreens to give owned-brand beauty line Botanics wider launch

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Boots Alliance will be introducing its latest own brand, called Botanics, within the next six months, the company announced Wednesday at its quarterly earnings call. 

  • Dollar General to acquire 323 Dollar Express stores

    GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General will acquire all 323 Dollar Express discount stores in 36 states from its owner, private equity firm Sycamore Partners, the company confirmed to several media outlets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    The Dollar Express stores, which still carry the Family Dollar moniker, will be rebranded to Dollar General. The 323 stores comprise most of the 330 stores sold to Sycamore in order to meet federal antitrust approval of Dollar Tree’s acquisition of Family Dollar in 2015. 

  • CVS Health Foundation announces more than $1M in grants

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — The CVS Health Foundation announced more than $1 million in grants to 33 Free and Charitable Clinics as part of a multi-year grant program with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics. During the past four years, the Foundation has donated nearly $5 million to NAFC to increase access to quality care and support the management of chronic disease.

  • Rite Aid names Vote for Your Favorite Pharmacy Team Member Contest winners

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid announced Amanda Bourque, a Rite Aid pharmacy technician from Coventry, R.I., and JoAnn Lankford, a Rite Aid customer from Providence Forge, Va., were selected at random from more than 13,000 unique entries as the winners of its Vote for Your Favorite Pharmacy Team Member Contest. Established in 2003, the contest was designed to honor Rite Aid pharmacy associates for their commitment to providing outstanding customer care and service.

    ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A just-released analysis of the U.S. retail sector offers positive news for an industry that has been subject to some gloomy assessments in recent times.

    Despite the rash of recent Chapter 11 filings and store closings, the U.S. retail sector as a whole remains incredibly strong and shows no signs of slowing down, according to a report by business intelligence firm Creditsafe USA.
