  • Report: Amazon vs. Target battle goes to college

    Amazon.com’s battle against Target is moving to a new battleground: college campuses.

    According to Fortune, the online retailer has its eyes on the next generation of affluent shoppers and is quickly expanding its fleet of campus kiosks that allow students to retrieve online orders. 

    Amazon’s push comes just as Target, which operates a few campus stores under its small- store format, is making college stores part of its new growth plans, Fortune reports.

  • Walgreens Boots Alliance continues 41-year tradition with dividend increase

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens Boots Alliance on Wednesday announced that its board of directors has declared a regular quarterly dividend of 37.5 cents per share, an increase of 4.2% over the year-ago period.

    The dividend is payable Dec. 12, 2016 to stockholders of record as of Nov. 17, 2016.

    Walgreens Boots Alliance and its predecessor company, Walgreens, have paid a dividend in 336 straight quarters (or 84 years) and have raised the dividend for 41 consecutive years.

  • Early Halloween sales are up at Meijer

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With Halloween falling on a Monday this year, consumers will be celebrating throughout the entire weekend, and Meijer says it is already seeing an increase in demand.           

    The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer says it is seeing as much as a 50% rise in customers taking advantage of early Halloween savings on décor, candy and costumes.
