  • KKR to sell 15 million shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens Boots Alliance on Thursday announced that affiliates of KKR intend to offer for sale in an underwritten secondary offering 15 million shares of the company’s common stock pursuant to the shelf registration statement filed by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Feb. 17, 2016.
     
    The selling stockholders also intend to grant the underwriter a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1.5 million shares of the company's common stock.

    VALLEY FORGE, Pa. - AmerisourceBergen on Thursday announced that it has extended the term of its strategic, long-term relationship with Walgreens Boots Alliance for an additional three years. 
     
  • FDA unveils tighter rules on e-cigarettes, other products

    WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Thursday that it will regulate all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah tobacco and pipe tobacco, among others.

    The industry’s first federal regulations call for requiring manufacturers to disclose ingredients, banning sales of e-cigarettes to minors and requiring proof of identification for sales.

  • CVS Caremark certified by NCQA in Utilization Management

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. - CVS Health announced Thursday that pharmacy benefits manager CVS Caremark was certified by NCQA in Utilization Management. NCQA Utilization Management Certification is a quality assessment program that focuses on consumer protection and customer service improvement. Standards recognize that organizations that apply for certification have open access networks, and can improve service quality and utilize customized structures to meet purchaser needs.
     
  • Rite Aid Foundation donates $100,000 to Hurley Children's Hospital in Flint, Mich.

    CAMP HILL, Pa. - The Rite Aid Foundation's KidCents program announced Thursday a $100,000 donation to Hurley Children's Hospital to help address the long-term effects of the Flint water crisis. The donation will support Hurley Children's Hospital's Nutrition Prescription Program and will provide 10,000 fruit and vegetable prescriptions to all pediatric patients 6-months and older.

  • Costco sales up 3% to $9 billion for April

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. - Costco on Wednesday reported net sales of $9 billion for the month of April, the four weeks ended May 1, 2016, an increase of 3% as compared to the similar period last year.
