  • Publix adds 3 members to board

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets added its soon-to-be CEO, current CFO and a retired Deloitte executive to its board of directors when the Southeast’s leading food retailer held its annual stockholders meeting on April 12.
     
    Publix president Todd Jones, CFO David Phillips and retired Deloitte executive Jessica Blume were elected to the board of the $32.4 billion retailer.

  • Congress passes Ensuring Patient Access Act

    ARLINGTON, Va. – The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed the Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act of 2016 (S. 483) in the same version passed by the Senate, making President Obama’s consideration and signature the final step before enactment.
     
    The legislation, advocated by both retail pharmacy and the pharma industry, would advance collaboration among health and enforcement authorities to achieve drug abuse solutions that maintain patients’ legitimate access to medications.
  • Walgreens Boots Alliance raises quarterly dividend by 6.7%

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - The board of directors of Walgreens Boots Alliance on Tuesday declared a regular quarterly dividend of 36 cents per share, a 6.7% increase over the year ago dividend. 
     
    The dividend is payable June 10 to stockholders of record as of May 18.
     
    Walgreens Boots Alliance and its predecessor company, Walgreens, have paid a dividend in 334 straight quarters (more than 83 years) and have raised the dividend for 40 consecutive years, the company noted.
