  • Mondelez teams up with Alibaba on e-commerce in China

    DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Mondelez International is forming a strategic e-commerce partnership with Alibaba Group to sell its products through the Chinese giant's online marketplace.

    Mondelez says Chinese consumers will now be able to purchase a fuller range of Mondelez International products, including Oreo, Chips Ahoy!, belVita, Toblerone, Cadbury and Trident, through its flagship store on Alibaba's Tmall.com platform, China's largest third-party business-to-consumer e-commerce platform for brands and retailers.

  • Rite Aid fiscal 2016 year-end revenue exceeds $30 billion for first time

    CAMP HILL, Pa. - Rite Aid on Friday reported revenues of $8.3 billion for its fourth quarter ended Feb. 27, representing an increase of 20.8%. Retail Pharmacy Segment revenues were $6.8 billion and decreased 0.3% compared to the prior year period primarily as a result of a decrease in same store sales. Pharmacy Services Segment revenues were $1.5 billion.
     
  • NACDS, NCPA reach out to maintain TRICARE beneficiary access to Rx meds

    WASHINGTON – In their ongoing commitment to protect TRICARE beneficiaries’ access to prescription medications, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and the National Community Pharmacists Association sent letters last week to the chairmen and ranking members of the House Armed Services Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee urging them to protect TRICARE beneficiary access by refusing to further increase retail community pharmacist copayments. 
  • Hallmark breathes new 'life' into greeting card aisle

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Hallmark is launching a new lifestyle brand to meet the ever-evolving needs of Hispanic consumers.

    The company is transitioning its existing Spanish-language greetings line to a new brand called Hallmark VIDA.

    VIDA, which translates to "life," will include products and services that help people celebrate occasions both big and small, connect with friends and family and help cultivate traditions that are uniquely Hispanic. 

  • The secrets to satisfying millennial customers

    WESTLAKE, Calif. – Value and communication are the keys to winning over millennial consumers, according to a survey of 600,000 consumers conducted by J.D. Power.

    The 2016 survey polled more than 634,000 consumers, including 126,315 millennials and 246,594 Boomers. Pete Trujillo, senior manager of industry analytics at J.D. Power, hosted a webinar this week to highlight data from the survey, titled "Millennials Insight Report: The Customer Experience Perspective."

  • Costco reports March sales results

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco on Thursday reported its March sales results, posting net sales of $10.71 billion — a 3% increase over the same period last year. For the 31 weeks ended April 3, Costco reported sales of $68.96 billion, which marks a gain of 3% over its $67.59 billion in sales during the same span of time last year.
