  • Walmart tests convenience-store format with online grocery pickup service

    Walmart has opened a 4,000-sq.-ft. format that offers pick-up of online grocery orders and a convenience store that also sells snacks, beverages and more. 
       
    The 4,000-sq.-ft. location, in Thornton, Colo., also has an on-site gasoline station, the Denver Business Journal reported.

    It’s the second location for the concept, with the retailer opening its first pickup and fuel station in April, in Huntsville, Ala., according to the report.

  • CVS encourages flu shots during National Influenza Vaccination Week

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — It’s not too late to get a flu shot.

    CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic are encouraging consumers to get their flu shot during the week of Dec. 4-10, which is The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Influenza Vaccination Week. Vaccination Week, established by the CDC in 2005, is intended to emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated as the holiday season begins.

    CAMP HILL, Pa. -- From Dec. 5 through Dec. 17, Rite Aid customers will be able to save $5 on their flu shot in support of National Influenza Vaccination Week, the company announced Monday.

  • TRICARE adds Walgreens to pharmacy network, displacing CVS

    WASHINGTON - The nation's military covered under TRICARE were given new marching orders effective Dec. 1 as Walgreens joined TRICARE's retail pharmacy network, displacing CVS Health as a preferred pharmacy in the Express Scripts-managed network.

    That move could displace as many as 16 million of CVS Health's most profitable prescriptions, many of which Walgreens will be endeavoring to capture.

  • Kentucky's leading Medicaid plan adds The Little Clinic to network

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Passport Health Plan has added The Little Clinic inside select Kroger stores around Kentucky to its growing network of accepted healthcare providers, effective Jan. 1, 2017, the companies announced Thursday.

    “We are very excited to add The Little Clinic to our network of healthcare providers around the Commonwealth,” stated Mark Carter, CEO of Passport Health Plan. “Opening access to these additional services will allow our members to get the care and treatment that they need to live healthier lives.”
