  • Walmart, CVS Health execs to address NRF 2018 convention

    Executives from Walmart and CVS Health will be among the biggest names addressing the National Retail Federation’s 107th annual convention in mid-January 2018. Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon and Helena Foulkes, CVS Health executive vice president and president of CVS Pharmacy will address the conference on its first and second days, respectively.

Moderating a panel of executives from such top retailers as CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Sam’s Club, Mack challenged them to explain to the audience what they were doing to remain relevant. 
  • Walmart makes big push for same day in-store pickup service

    The discounter, which said 84% of Americans are still shopping for the holidays, is making a big push for its same day in-store pickup service. It’s made more items eligible for the service than ever before. Also, customers will be able to shop for qualifying items, notated with “Free Pickup Today,” online until 4 p.m. local time on Dec. 23. The items can be picked up in stores until 6 p.m. on Dec, 24.

  • Walmart changes name amid growing emphasis on e-commerce

    The discounter on Wednesday announced that it is changing its legal name from Wal-Mart Stores to Walmart Inc., effective Feb. 1, 2018. The move reflects the chain’s growing emphasis on e-commerce and its positioning as a retailer with integrated online and offline operations.

    The makers of the Wholly Guacamole Brand are expanding their list of products available to consumers, by launching a new line called Wholly Simply Avocado dips and spreads.

    Simply Avocado dips and spreads offer always ripe and great tasting avocados year-round without any mess, the company said. There will be a variety of five new flavors, two already launching in stores and three coming in the near future. The currently launched dips and spreads are:

  • Walmart’s digital business booms in Q3

    Walmart is heading into the crucial holiday season on fire, with the chain posting a 50% increase in online sales in its third quarter and topping the Street’s profit, revenue and comp sales estimates.

    The retail giant’s total revenue rose 4.2% to $123.18 billion in the quarter, versus estimates of $121 billion. Net sales at Walmart’s U.S. operations totaled $77.724 billion, up from $74.550 billion in the prior-year period. Net sales at Walmart International rose 4.1% to $29.5 billion, with 10 of its 11 eleven markets posting positive comp sales.
