  • Coca-Cola bears new can

    ATLANTA — Coca-Cola is turning its cola cans white this holiday season to benefit the World Wildlife Fund. The company is committing up to $3 million to WWF’s polar bear conservation efforts and is asking fans in the United States to join the “Arctic Home” campaign by texting donations to help protect polar bear habitats. The polar bear has been used as a Coca-Cola icon since 1922.


  • Walgreens teams with Toys for Tots, to be featured on Ellen DeGeneres Show

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Thursday announced it is teaming up with Toys for Tots and local charities across the nation. Through Dec. 17, Walgreens customers can donate new, unwrapped toys at any Walgreens store.

    All community donations will be distributed to local families.

    LOS ANGELES — Clif Bar on Tuesday boosted its commitment to the Honda LA Marathon with a two-year sponsorship for 2012 and 2013. Clif Bar will provide Honda LA Marathon runners with an array of sports nutrition made with organic ingredients, including Clif Bar energy bars, Clif Shot energy gel and Clif Shot Bloks energy chews.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Harris Teeter associates on Monday donated enough products for its associates to assemble 2,000 Thanksgiving dinner bags for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

  • Winn-Dixie launches Give a Meal program

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie on Wednesday announced it has joined forces with Feeding America to launch the Give a Meal program, which gives Winn-Dixie guests and team members the opportunity to help provide food to nearly 37 million Americans — including more than 14 million children — facing hunger this holiday season. Give a Meal runs through Jan. 3 and is available in all of Winn-Dixie’s 482 stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Every $1 donated during the campaign helps provide eight meals to people in need.
