  • Harris Teeter to pitch food drive with MLB partner Washington Nationals

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In partnership with the Washington Nationals, Harris Teeter is hosting a food drive now through July 8, 2013 to support its local food bank partners, the supermarket retailer announced Monday. 

    In addition to donating food at local Harris Teeter stores, Nationals fans may bring non-perishable food items to Nationals Park on July 6 and 7 when the team faces the San Diego Padres. Volunteers will collect donations outside Center Field Gate from the time gates open through the fourth inning. 

  • Target gives away first aid kits to Canadian customers

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — A survey commissioned by Target Corp. recently found that nearly one-quarter of Canadians in some parts of the country don't have first aid kits at home, and more than half don't have one in their car.

    The survey, conducted by Leger Marking, found 22% of western Canadians don't have a kit at home, and 60% lack one in their car, while 58% of people without first aid kits think they have first aid essentials in various locations around the house.

  • Rite Aid launches Wellness+ extension for seniors

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is launching an extension to its Wellness+ loyalty card program aimed at elderly customers, the retail pharmacy chain said Wednesday.

    Rite Aid announced Wellness65+, which makes customers age 65 years and older who enroll automatically eligible for an expanded pharmacist consultation, during which they can bring in current medications for a review by the pharmacist and discuss immunization needs.

  • Harris Teeter makes third payout for school donation program

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Harris Teeter Together in Education has donated more than $690,000 to participating TIE schools during the final of three donations of the 2012-2013 school year, raising the program total to about $19.5 million since 1998, the company has announced.

  • NPD Group: Growth in men's fragrance sales fueled by larger sizes, gift sets

    PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — Sales of U.S. prestige men’s fragrances are on the rise, according to recent research by global information company The NPD Group.

    Sales of U.S. prestige men’s fragrance increased 6% to $953 million, from May 2012 to April 2013, compared with the same time period last year, according to The NPD Group’s U.S. fragrance industry.
