  • Brush Buddies expands singing toothbrush category with One Direction toothbrush

    FONTANA, Calif. — Brush Buddies, a maker of of licensed manual toothbrushes, and Global Merchandising Services has announced that One Direction is the newest artist to be featured on the line of Brush Buddies Singing Toothbrushes. 

    Brush Buddies created the Singing Toothbrush category during the summer of 2011 with their launch of two products that each feature two hit songs by Justin Bieber. Brush Buddies expanded the category with new products in 2012 featuring new songs by Bieber and artists Lady Gaga and LMFAO.

  • Prestige sets see double-digit gains

    Beauty market research company NPD Group recently reported that prestige gift sets were once again on the rise within U.S. department stores.


    While all prestige gift sets saw double-digit gains, the greatest lift was reported in makeup gift sets. Between January and October 2012, total makeup gift sets rose 26% to $116 million compared with the January to 
October 2011 period.


    Total skin care gift sets increased 23% compared with the year-ago period to reach $276 million.


    Total sales of fragrance gift sets climbed 10% to $479 million versus 
last year.

    LINCOLNSHIRE, Il. — In late 2011, Quill.com began offering Dunder Mifflin paper as part of an innovative licensing agreement with NBCUniversal. The program was a huge success, and now Quill is looking to expand "The Office" product line to feature several more items.

  • Plackers marks 40th anniversary with sweepstakes

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A company that makes disposable flossers is giving away $40,000 in a contest to mark the 40 years the product has been available.

    Plackers, which credits itself as the maker of the first disposable flosser, said people could buy specially marked packages of Plackers flossers, including Micro Mint, Gentle Fine, Twin-Line and GentleSlide and enter to win the grand prize. Other prize winners will receive an Apple iPad, iPod Nano or a year's supply of flossers.

    BOSTON — Samuel Adams has once again stepped into the realm of "extreme beers" with its latest 10th anniversary release of Samuel Adams Utopias, the brewery's legendary barrel-aged beer. Aged to perfection — for some ingredients, 20 years — the new brew contains slightly more than 29% alcohol by volume, which compares with 5% ABV in Samuel Adams Boston Lager.

    MINNEAPOLIS – The pranksters at 30 Watt have introduced a new way to fool family and friends this holiday season, with a fake new product that supposedly solves the issue of hard-to-reach electrical devices — Connect-A-Cord, 50 one-foot sections of cord — the company announced on Monday.

    With 50 separate cords, Connect-A-Cord is a new solution to tangled cords, the product's box claims. The product's packaging also boasts that it comes with an optional contractor case for tangle-free storage.

    PASADENA, Calif. — Playmaker Nutrition is looking to knock multivitamin sales out of the ballpark with a new gummy line targeting teens and tweens. Of course, with sports-stars-cum-company-founders backing their play, the gummies may appeal to more than just kids. The all-start lineup includes Summer Olympics gold medalist and NBA star Kevin Love, Winter Olympics gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden and Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.
