    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Scottish Spirits Imports is introducing a product that can be enjoyed on the go by featuring a resealable latex cap.

    Scottish Spirits in a Can features the brand's single grain scotch whisky, containing 40% alcohol by volume and 80% proof, in a 100% recyclable aluminum can.

    The suggested retail price is $5 for a can (12 fl. oz./355 ml) and is expected to roll out next month.

    PITTSBURGH — GNC announced that two U.S. Women's National Soccer Team players will serve as GNC LiveWell brand ambassadors.

    The company said Alex Morgan and Heather Mitts will work with GNC to reach out to aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts through social media, video, appearances and marketing materials.

  • Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie combo would create a $780 million-plus pharmacy operation

    GREENVILLE, S.C. — The proposed acquisition of Winn-Dixie by fellow Southeast grocer Bi-Lo would create a regional pharmacy operator with almost 500 pharmacy operations and pharmacy revenue of around $780 million, according to Drug Store News projections.

    That would make the Bi-Lo/Winn-Dixie combination No. 24 on Drug Store News' PoweRx50 — a list of the top 50 pharmacy retailers operating in the U.S. — falling in just behind Albertsons LLC (which posted $787 million in pharmacy revenue in 2010) and well ahead of Fred's ($628 million).

    BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Whirlpool Corp. is launching Affresh Cleaners, a new line of advanced home cleaning products now available at Best Buy stores nationwide.

    "Keeping the kitchen clean has historically been a big chore, so we designed the new line of Affresh Cleaners to combat everyday spills and residue while making cleaning simple," said Wendeline Ortiz, brand manager of Affresh Cleaners.

    PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — Prestige makeup sales experienced growth during the first 10 months of the year, with the nail segment coming out a winner all around with a $50-plus increase in both nail enamel and top/base coats, according to beauty market research conducted by the NPD Group.

  • UK beauty brand Nip + Fab comes to U.S. via Target partnership

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has partnered with U.K. beauty expert Maria Hatzistefanis and now is carrying her Nip + Fab beauty brand in Target stores and online at Target.com.

    Launched in 2010 and previously available only across the pond, Nip + Fab is now available in the United States through its partnership with Target.

    Beauty mavens can select from 14 different Nip + Fab skin solutions and body blends, including Nip + Fab Tummy Fix, Nip + Fab Pigmentation Fix and Nip + Fab Dark Circle Fix.

    Hatzistefanis also has created the Rodial beauty brand.
