  • Coach K named keynote speaker for 2013 Sweets & Snacks Expo

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coach K, the highest winning coach in NCAA Division One basketball, was named the keynote speaker for the 2013 Sweets & Snacks Expo, which is hosted by the National Confectioners Association on May 21-23 in Chicago.

    As head coach of Duke University's Blue Devils for more than 30 years, Coach K has made a career of motivating people, on and off the court. He was named "America's Best Coach" of all coaches, in any sport, at any level of play in 2001 by TIME magazine and CNN.

    PASADENA, Calif. — Playmaker Nutrition is looking to knock multivitamin sales out of the ballpark with a new gummy line targeting teens and tweens. Of course, with sports-stars-cum-company-founders backing their play, the gummies may appeal to more than just kids. The all-start lineup includes Summer Olympics gold medalist and NBA star Kevin Love, Winter Olympics gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden and Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.

  • Stop & Shop event promotes healthy living

    QUINCY, Mass. — An event sponsored earlier this week by supermarket chain Stop & Shop provided information to kids designed to encourage them to live healthier lifestyles.

    The Healthy Kids Summit, which took place Monday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., attracted more than 300 residents, customers, families and children and featured guidance from community and health experts, such as New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung and leaders from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the YMCA.

  • Successful Australian VMS marketer to launch in the U.S. market January 2013

    VICTORIA, Australia — Sales of Swisse Ultivite multivitamins in the Australian and Asian markets have been a big driver behind overall sales, according to a Nielsen report cited by the company. 

    Across both Australia and Asia, VMS sales were up 16% to $197 million for the year ended June 2012. Leading the charge was Suisse Ultivite, which grew by more than 40% "thanks to a high ad spend and launches that boost the profile of the whole range,” Nielsen said.

  • Walgreens named official pharmacy of Detroit Lions

     DETROIT — The Detroit Lions and Walgreens on Friday entered into an agreement naming Walgreens as the Official Pharmacy of the Detroit Lions. Walgreens also will be named presenting sponsor of the team’s Living for the City Health & Wellness community initiative, bringing preventive healthcare resources and charitable programs to disadvantaged and at-risk families throughout metropolitan Detroit.
