  • Spam's new spokescharacter looks to rescue consumers from routine meals

    AUSTIN, Minn. — Hormel Foods has introduced a spokescharacter for its Spam brand.

    Sir Can-A-Lot, a 2.5-in. tall knight "provides an engaging presence that highlights the playful and down-to-earth personality that makes the Spam brand both unique and timeless," Spam product manager Nicole Behne said. "The campaign features him ridding not only mealtimes of boredom, but also helping consumers 'break the monotony.'"

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Church & Dwight has bolstered its OxiClean brand to include a first-of-its-kind dishwashing booster.

    OxiClean dishwashing booster features a unique multi-action formula that is designed to remove cloudy film, food particles, spots and streaks that detergent alone can leave behind. Church & Dwight said the product was designed as a result of a new requirement for dishwasher detergents to be free of phosphates. The company also noted that phosphate-free detergents may leave behind a cloudy film that can build up over time.

  • Freschetta adds sea salt, olive oil to sauce used in frozen pizzas

    BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A frozen pizza brand has reformulated the sauce used in its Brick Oven pizza varieties.

    Freschetta said the sauce used on its pizzas now feature sea salt and olive oil. In the brand's Brick Oven line, the five Italian cheese, pepperoni and Italian style cheese, zesty Italian style supreme, spinach and mushroom, and three meat medley varieties now feature sea salt and olive oil. The sea salt and olive oil sauce will be incorporated into the Naturally Rising line of Freschetta pizzas later this year, the company noted.

  • Kashi launches Steam Meals

    LA JOLLA, Calif. — Kashi has introduced frozen entrées to its lineup of products.

    The company's new Steam Meals include chicken fettuccine, sesame chicken, roasted garlic chicken farfalle and spinach and artichoke pasta. Each variety features Kashi's Seven Whole Grain blend and use microwave steam to heat the food in just minutes.

    Kashi Steam Meals are available in 9.5-oz. single-serve bags and carry a suggested retail price of $3.99.
