  • Ken's Foods updates salad dressing bottles

    MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Ken's Foods has increased the size of its salad dressing bottles.

    The company said its new 9-oz. salad dressing bottle replaces its existing 8-oz. bottle, giving the consumer 12.5% more dressing for their money, Ken's Foods said. What's more, 26 varieties of Ken's salad dressings will be "dressed up" in the updated bottles.

    "We held focus groups with our end users," said Bob Merchant, Ken's Foods COO. "They made it clear that they prefer plastic bottles over glass, and Ken's listens to consumers."

  • Coca-Cola's Give It Back racks a nod to sustainability commitment

    ATLANTA — Coca-Cola has developed 100% recyclable display racks for use in U.S. grocery and convenience stores.

    The new Give It Back racks are stand-alone units made of easily recyclable corrugated cardboard, Coca-Cola said. The soft drink giant said the merchandise displays expand its commitment to sustainability. The racks currently are being tested in select markets and are expected to become widely available in late 2011.

  • Scott Naturals asks consumers to 'test drive' hybrid paper products

    DALLAS — Scott Naturals is challenging consumers to use its line of hybrid paper products.

    The Kimberly-Clark brand said that through Sept. 30, consumers can log on to ScottBrand.com to pledge to use its bath tissue, paper towels, flushable moist wipes and napkins for four weeks, as well as enter its Take the 4-Week Test Drive sweepstakes for a chance to win a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid sedan.

  • Frito-Lay heats up chips with Tapatio hot sauce

    PLANO, Texas — Frito-Lay is spicing up its Doritos, Fritos and Ruffles brands with a zesty offering.

    Each of the three chips brands now will include a Tapatio hot sauce-flavored product. All three Tapatio-flavored Frito-Lay products include a unique combination of red chili peppers, spices and a hint of garlic — the same ingredients used to create the original Tapatio hot sauce recipe.

    New Tapatio-flavored Doritos, Fritos and Ruffles are available at select retailers for a suggested retail price of 99 cents each for small bags and $2.99 each for large bags.

  • Kmart reveals Hot 8 list for summer toys

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Kmart has named the top eight toys for the summer.

    The toys on the Hot 8 list all are designed for outdoor use and are made by such brands as Power Wheels, Little Tikes and Fisher Price.

    Uncle Ben's Begin with Ben campaign, which debuted in Europe and Canada earlier this year, has made its way to the United States. The campaign emphasizes home-cooked meals and simple solutions to make meals healthier by adding rice to a meal.
