  • CHPA adds 8 new members, names Perrigo EVP chairman of the board

    WASHINGTON — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association on Thursday elected Jeff Needham as chairman of the CHPA Board of Directors at its June meeting. Needham serves as EVP and general manager of U.S. Consumer Healthcare for Perrigo Company, the nation’s largest manufacturer of over-the-counter private label products for the store brand market.


    Needham succeeds Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, who was previously VP of Personal Health Care North America and Global Digestive Wellness at Proctor & Gamble.

  • FDA warns against higher-than-recommended doses of OTC diarrhea medicine loperamide

    SILVER SPRING, Md. - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday warned that taking higher than recommended doses of the common over-the-counter and prescription diarrhea medicine loperamide (the main ingredient in Imodium, for example), including through abuse or misuse of the product, can cause serious heart problems that can lead to death.
