  • Increased consumer spending prompts NRF to boost 2016 sales projections

    WASHINGTON – With increases in consumer spending expected to remain solid during the remainder of the year, the National Retail Federation on Tuesday increased 2016 retail sales projections by 30 basis points to 3.4% over last year.

    Online and other non-store sales, which are included in the overall figure, are expected to increase 7% to 10% year-over-year rather than the 6% to 9% percent forecast earlier.

  • Perrigo launches store brand equivalent for Zegerid OTC

    DUBLIN - Perrigo announced Monday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the company's ANDA for omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate capsules, 20mg/1100mg.  This approval will initiate the first store brand launch of an equivalent product to Zegerid OTC capsules.

    Shipments to retail customers have already commenced.

    Zegerid OTC is indicated for the treatment of frequent heartburn. National brand sales for the twelve months ending June 2016 were $27 million.

    WASHINGTON —  Since the Food and Drug Administration’s March 25, 2014 Part 15 public hearing on the OTC Drug Monograph, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association has been in discussions with FDA and relevant committees in Congress to identify potential enhancements that would update and modernize this regulatory framework for most nonprescription medicines.

  • Moberg Pharma to acquire 3 U.S. OTC brands from Prestige Brands

    STOCKHOLM -- Moberg Pharma has signed an agreement to acquire U.S. OTC brands New Skin, Fiber Choice and PediaCare from Prestige Brands, Inc.

    The purchase price is $40 million and the acquired brands will be sold through Moberg’s current OTC channel in the U.S, primarily in drugstores such as CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid and in mass retailers such as Walmart and Target.
