    DEERFIELD, Ill — Walgreens today announced its app is available for download on mobile phone devices across the Windows Phone 8 platform. A Windows 8 version for desktops and tablets is expected to become available at a later date.

    Additionally, the company will soon release its QuickPrints API designed for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

    EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — Kidz Gear announced today that it has been named a 2013 National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA) Gold winner, recognized for its KidzControl Volume Limit Headphones.

    Kidz Gear headphones feature the proprietary KidzControl volume limit technology. The technology works by “limiting” the volume to approximately 80% of the maximum volume output capable from audio devices in the market today.

  • Ahold continues with share-buyback program

    ZAANDAM, Netherlands — Ahold repurchased 3.3 million shares as part of a share-buyback program announced earlier this year, the Dutch supermarket operator said.

    Ahold said it repurchased the shares at a price of $15.25 per share for a total of $50.2 million. The company operates the Stop & Shop, Giant Food of Landover, Md., and Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa., supermarket chains and the Peapod grocery-delivery service in the United States, as well as several retail chains in Europe.

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration is allowing the marketing of two new cigarette brands under regulations that allow tobacco companies to market new products if they can prove they are similar enough to products already on the market.

  • Organic Oscar expands to Target

    SAN DIEGO — A maker of bathing products for pets has expanded its line to Target stores around the country.

    Organic Oscar said its line of pet shampoo had hit Target's shelves this month, marking its biggest expansion since the company's official launch in 2011. The company was founded in 2007. The shampoo, which is natural and biodegradable, is available for $9.99 per bottle.
