  • Consumer Reports: Robust consumer spending may be on the horizon, just not there yet

    YONKERS, N.Y. — The Consumer Reports Index, an overall measure of Americans’ personal financial health, shows Americans are reporting significantly fewer financial troubles, Consumer Reports National Research Center announced Tuesday. The Index’s trouble tracker measure fell sharply to 34 from 41.7 a month earlier — the lowest level since the organization first measured it in April 2009.

  • App allows iPhone photo delivery, drug store pickup

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A new app for the iPhone allows users to have prints of their photos sent to the address of their choice or pick them up at CVS.

    SmartPhoto Express includes features like selection of photos from the camera roll, selection of print size, editing and enhancement of photos, and multiple prints. The company said same-day pickup of photo prints was currently available at nationwide locations of the second-largest drug store chain in the United States.

  • Former Facebook president invests in e-cigarette brand

    SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Electronic cigarette brand Njoy has raised $75 million in funding, the company said Monday.

    Njoy, whose ads have appeared on New York streets and which recently posted an ad on YouTube featuring rock musician Courtney Love using language not exactly suitable for prime-time television, received the investment from early Facebook investor Sean Parker and Homewood Capital principal Douglas Teitelbaum, the latter of whom will join Njoy's board of directors.
