  • 2016 State of Obesity report finds Americans making moderate progress

    WASHINGTON - U.S. adult obesity rates decreased in four states (Minnesota, Montana, New York and Ohio), increased in two (Kansas and Kentucky) and remained stable in the rest, between 2014 and 2015, according to The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America, a report from the Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

    This marks the first time in the past decade that any states have experienced decreases – aside from a decline in Washington, D.C. in 2010.

  • Trending 'float industry' driving retail sales of Epsom salts

    SAN FRANCISCO - Growth across the niche "float industry" may be driving sales of Epsom salt at home, according to a release from the San Francisco Salt Company Wednesday. The category reached $127 million in sales on 12.5% growth for the 52 weeks ended July 10 across total U.S. multi-outlet channels, according to IRI data. Retail outlets that provide shallow tubs filled with Epsom salts are trending among consumers in search of deep relaxation experiences.

  • NuGo Nutrition acquires ProMax sports nutrition bars

    OAKMONT, Pa. - NuGo Nutrition, a fast-growing lifestyle brand in the natural foods category known for creating protein bars for several lifestyles, on Wednesday announced it has acquired the sports performance brand, Promax from Promax Nutrition Corporation.

    Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

    FRANKLIN, Wis. - Carma Laboratories unveiled a new look across its product lineup - while the iconic brand will still display the recognizable yellow and red colors that have been associated with the brand for 80 years, the new packaging will feature softer, rounder edges and a new slightly curved logo that complements the rounded card shape.

    Augmenting the updated look will be the brand's "Crafted for Comfort" seal. Retailers can expect to see the new packaging on store shelves in August.
