    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Mountain Dew, a brand from PepsiCo, on Thursday announced that for the first time, Mtn Dew Baja Blast — which is only available as a fountain beverage at Taco Bell — will make the leap to store shelves for a limited time beginning May 5.

  • FDA approves Sylvant (siltuximab) to treat patients with multicentric Castleman’s disease

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved Sylvant (siltuximab) to treat patients with multicentric Castleman’s disease, a rare disorder similar to lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes).

    MCD causes an abnormal overgrowth of immune cells in lymph nodes and related tissues in the body. The disease usually affects adults who often suffer from fever, night sweats, weight loss and weakness or fatigue because their body’s immune system is weakened and cannot fight infections.

    MINNEAPOLIS — Yoplait, a brand from General Mills, on Thursday announced two new spring seasonal yogurts to its lineup. The two flavors, Yoplait Light margarita and Yoplait Original sweet tea-flavored yogurt, are available for a limited time.

  • FDA approves first HPV test for cervical cancer screening

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved a human papillomavirus DNA test for women 25 years of age and older that can be used alone to help health care professionals assess the need for a woman to undergo additional testing for cervical cancer. The Cobas HPV test is the first and only HPV test approved for primary screening in the United States.

    The test uses a sample of cervical cells to specifically identify HPV 16 and HPV 18, while also detecting 12 other types of high-risk HPVs.

  • Dr. Reddy's launches generic Antara capsules

    HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy's Labs on Wednesday announced the launch of fenofibrate capsules, USP in 43-mg and 130-mg strengths. The drug is the generic version of Antara (fenofibrate) capsules.

    The Antara capsules brand and generics had U.S. sales of approximately $74 million MAT for the most recent 12 months ending February 2014, according to IMS Health. Dr. Reddy's fenofibrate capsules, USP 43-mg is available in bottle counts of 30; 130-mg are available in bottle counts of 30 and 90.

     

  • Cefaly makes Rx medical device for the preventive treatment of migraine headaches available online

    NEW YORK — Cefaly Technology announced Wednesday that the Cefaly medical device for the preventive treatment of migraine headaches is available for purchase and delivery in the United States for patients with a medical prescription at Cefaly.us.

    The company that manufactures Cefaly expects to make the device available via select pharmacies and clinics in the months ahead.
