  • FDA advisory panel recommends approval of Merck's vorapaxar

    WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — Merck on Wednesday commended the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee’s recommendation for approval of vorapaxar. Vorapaxar is the company’s investigational antiplatelet medicine for the reduction of atherothrombotic events, when added to standard of care, in patients with a history of heart attack and no history of stroke or transient ischemic attack.

  • SheaMoisture creates new hair straightening collection

    AMITYVILLE, N.Y. — SheaMoisture is expanding its portfolio with the new Tahitian Noni & Monoi hair straightening collection, which offers users the freedom to wear straight or curly hair styles.

    The protein-based treatment products promise to smooth, soften and control frizz, leaving textured hair more manageable for up to four weeks.

  • Pharmavite expands gummy line with three new products

    NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Pharmavite on Wednesday announced the expansion of its Nature Made Adult Gummies product line. The line extension will include Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi + Omega-3, Nature Made Adult Gummies Energy B12 and Nature Made Adult Gummies Immune Complex with Zinc. 

    The new offerings are being released at the start of the year when many consumers are looking to get back on track and refocus their wellness routines, the company stated. 

  • Seattle's Best Coffee introduces instant, K-Cup varieties

    SEATTLE — Seattle's Best Coffee is making a foray into the instant and single-serve coffee markets.

    The brand, owned by Seattle-based coffee chain Starbucks, is introducing single-serve K-Cup packs for Keurig coffee makers, two new roast and ground-medium roast blends, House Blend, Breakfast Blend and Instant Lattes. The single-serve market is worth about $1.8 billion, while the instant market is worth about $740 million, according to IRI Group data.

  • Antares announces availability of injectable methotrexate product for arthritis, psoriasis

    EWING, N.J. — A new drug for autoimmune diseases from Antares Pharma that the company calls the first of its kind is now available, the drug maker said Wednesday.

    Antares announced the availability of Otrexup for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis in adults and polyarticular idiopathic arthritis in children. The company said the drug is the first Food and Drug Administration-approved subcutaneous methotrexate product for once-weekly self-administration. Otrexup, which the FDA approved in October, is available with a single-dose auto injector.

  • Top Pair launches Safe-Sit disposable paper toilet seat cover

    MIAMI — Top Pair recently introduced Safe-Sit, a disposable paper toilet seat cover that retails for a suggested $1.99 for 10 sheets. The product is packaged in a convenient personal pack that can be carried for on-the-go use. 

    Safe-Sit is biodegradable, antiallergic and eco-friendly, the company stated. 

  • Perrigo launches generic equivalent to prescription-only Vanos Cream 0.1%

    DUBLIN — Perrigo on Tuesday announced that it has received final approval for its abbreviated new drug application for fluocinonide cream 0.1%, the generic equivalent to prescription-only Vanos Cream 0.1%. 

    Perrigo was awarded 180-days of generic drug exclusivity as it was the first company to submit an ANDA containing a paragraph IV certification. Perrigo had previously resolved litigation with the brand and has commenced shipment of the product.

  • Clif Bar adds two flavors to its Luna Protein line

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Clif Bar on Tuesday announced two new flavors to its Luna Protein line — lemon vanilla and chocolate coconut almond. Lemon vanilla is the first Luna Protein bar without a chocolate coating.
