  • New derma e line uses vitamin E to battle elemental stress

    SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — Positioned as the first skin care line in the marketplace to feature full vitamin E is the new Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Bodycare line from derma e. The line — which is comprised of a body balm, body lotion and hand crème — promises to provide moisture, protection and nourishing skin benefits to restore dry, flaky, itchy, cracked or damaged skin.   • Anheuser-Busch intros cocktail-inspired beverages

    ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch is continuing to blur the line between beer and cocktails. The brewer’s latest addition to the popular Ritas family is Bud Light Lime Cran-Brrr-Rita, a limited-edition winter offering. Cran-Brrr-Rita hits store shelves in November, and will be available in 12-packs, 8-oz. cans and 25-oz. cans. Straw-Ber-Rita has been a huge hit this summer and is the largest share gainer in the beer industry this year, according to A-B.   

  • Bio-Oil continues to enjoy sales boost

    NEW YORK — One of the more well-known skin care oils found at mass hails from South Africa. Bio-Oil is infused with the PurCellin Oil and is formulated to help improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks anduneven skin tone. According to IRI, sales of Bio-Oil rose nearly 8% to $20.9 million for the 52 weeks ended Aug. 11 at U.S. multi-outlets.

  • i-Health offers chewable probiotic for adults

    CROMWELL, Conn. — Earlier this year, i-Health identified a niche need within the probiotic segment — an adult-strength chewable version of its probiotic brand, called Culturelle Digestive Health Probiotic Chewables, for those consumers in search of alternatives to the tablets and caplets.

    The new product launch has contributed to an overall brand lift of 44.5% to $61.6 million in total U.S. multi-outlet sales for the 52 weeksended Aug. 11, according to IRI.

  • Anheuser-Busch announces return of Budweiser's Project 12

    ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch on Tuesday announced the return of Budweiser's Project 12 — the brewmaster platform that introduced Budweiser Black Crown — with three new beers, beginning Oct. 28.

    For Project 12, Budweiser's team of brewmasters develop new beer recipes featuring the signature yeast first used by Adolphus Busch in 1876. The three small-batch Budweisers named for the ZIP code where the beer is brewed include:

  • Pharmavite VitaMelts climb to No. 12 spot

    NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Pharmavite launched its latest VMS innovation, Nature Made VitaMelts, earlier this summer, and already the brand ranks No. 12 among one- and two-letter vitamins, according to 52-week sales data as tracked by IRI.

    The most significant point of differentiation: a new-format delivery that induces trial and subsequently the repurchase. “The repurchase is so high because the marketing campaign has been very successful and continues to build awareness among mass consumers,” noted Pharmavite spokesman Doug Jones.

  • McKesson division achieves SCP technology standard

    LIVONIA, Mich. — A consortium of companies that has developed standards to improve the quality and effectiveness of technology service operations has named McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation as making the grade, McKesson said.

    The healthcare services company said it achieved the Service Capability and Performance standards, set by Service Strategies and several other technology companies.

  • No rest for sleep remedies

    One subcategory that has really jolted the sales-per-square-inch across analgesic sets is sleep aids. Sales of sleeping remedies, including both liquids and tablets, were up 51.2% to $408 million for the 52 weeks ended Aug. 11 across U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI data. Almost one-third of that, or $127 million, came courtesy of Procter and Gamble’s ZzzQuil, which launched a little more than a year ago.
