  • Anheuser-Busch announces return of Budweiser's Project 12

    ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch on Tuesday announced the return of Budweiser's Project 12 — the brewmaster platform that introduced Budweiser Black Crown — with three new beers, beginning Oct. 28.

    For Project 12, Budweiser's team of brewmasters develop new beer recipes featuring the signature yeast first used by Adolphus Busch in 1876. The three small-batch Budweisers named for the ZIP code where the beer is brewed include:

  • Pharmavite VitaMelts climb to No. 12 spot

    NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Pharmavite launched its latest VMS innovation, Nature Made VitaMelts, earlier this summer, and already the brand ranks No. 12 among one- and two-letter vitamins, according to 52-week sales data as tracked by IRI.

    The most significant point of differentiation: a new-format delivery that induces trial and subsequently the repurchase. “The repurchase is so high because the marketing campaign has been very successful and continues to build awareness among mass consumers,” noted Pharmavite spokesman Doug Jones.

  • McKesson division achieves SCP technology standard

    LIVONIA, Mich. — A consortium of companies that has developed standards to improve the quality and effectiveness of technology service operations has named McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation as making the grade, McKesson said.

    The healthcare services company said it achieved the Service Capability and Performance standards, set by Service Strategies and several other technology companies.

  • No rest for sleep remedies

    One subcategory that has really jolted the sales-per-square-inch across analgesic sets is sleep aids. Sales of sleeping remedies, including both liquids and tablets, were up 51.2% to $408 million for the 52 weeks ended Aug. 11 across U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI data. Almost one-third of that, or $127 million, came courtesy of Procter and Gamble’s ZzzQuil, which launched a little more than a year ago.

  • L’Oréal brings new facial oil to mass

    NEW YORK — Among the new entrants to the growing facial oil segment is L’Oréal Paris’ Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil, which hit shelves in July. Described as the first concentrated facial oil to any mass market, the oil is designed to boost skin’s natural radiance and provide all-day hydration. It contains a blend of eight essential oils, which have been selected based on their lightweight, fast-absorbing properties.

  • FDA approves Adempas to treat pulmonary hypertension

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration today approved Adempas, also known as riociguat, to treat adults with two forms of pulmonary hypertension, which is caused by abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs.

  • Maite Perroni confesses with Pantene and calls for fans’ hair confessions

    CINCINNATI — Maite Perroni, celebrity ambassador for Procter & Gamble’s hair care brand Pantene, will help launch the Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield collection in the U.S. Hispanic market with four new exclusive hair confession videos on MiPantene.com.

    Perroni shares hair secrets and anecdotes on her everyday hair styling routine. The Pantene Pro-V Heat Shield collection is for all women who are aware of the damage that can be caused by the excessive use of heat styling tools, but are ultimately not prepared to sacrifice their style due to the use of less heat.

  • Quaker introduces Real Medleys bars

    NEW YORK — PepsiCo's Quaker division has introduced a new version of its Quaker Real Medleys product, the company said.

    Quaker announced the launch of Real Medleys Bars, featuring flavor combinations similar to the ones found in Real Medleys cups. Like the cups, the bars feature such fruits and nuts as cherries, apples, cranberries, peaches, pistachios, walnuts and almonds.

    The bars are available in boxes of five bars. The company calls Real Medleys its most innovative product in 40 years.
