  • AquaHydrate shows off new look

    LOS ANGELES — AquaHydrate has unveiled a new look as part of the company's rebranding campaign.

    AquaHydrate now touts a new logo, a 500-mL bottle and a new 700-mL sport-top bottle to complement its existing 1-L container. The company said the makeover is in an effort to expand its marketing focus "from elite athletes to a broader swath of active, health-conscious consumers."

  • Hair restoration expert Dr. Robert Leonard develops hair care line

    CRANSTON, R.I. — Chief surgeon and founder of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates Dr. Robert Leonard, who is also a national spokesman for Rogaine and the hair loss expert for Johnson & Johnson, has announced the launch of Copper Chemist, a hair care product line formulated to harness the regenerative properties of copper peptides, the naturally occurring small protein fragments known to increase hair growth.

  • Energizer introduces safe, flameless candles

    ST. LOUIS — Energizer Household Lighting has introduced an innovative option for those wanting the ambiance of candles without the worry of open flames: Energizer Flameless Wax Candles.

    The Flameless Wax Candles, currently available online and at mass market retailers, feature a realistic flickering LED “flame” and melted edge design at the top of the candle. A three-level timer allows the user to schedule the candle to turn off after four, six or eight hours of use; the candle also can be programmed to turn on at the same time every day.

  • Contigo launches new water bottle for kids

    CHICAGO — Contigo has introduced a new spill-proof water bottle for kids.

    The new, BPA-free Striker water bottle is designed for children ages 3 years and older and features an AutoSpout lid, which includes a kid-friendly push-to-drink button for easy one-handed drinking on the go. The bottle also features a specially designed spill-proof valve — the first AutoSpout water bottle with this feature — which helps kids transition from sippy cups without the mess.

  • FDA approves Abbott's Humira for ulcerative colitis

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug made by Abbott for treating ulcerative colitis.

    The agency announced Friday the approval of Humira (adalimumab) for moderate to severe UC. The drug was already approved for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, plaque psoriasis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

    UC is a chronic disease that affects about 620,000 Americans, according to the National Institutes of Health.

  • FDA approves two generic hypertension drugs from Mylan

    PITTSBURGH — Generic drug maker Mylan has received regulatory approval for a drug used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, the company said Friday, saying that it would launch both drugs immediately.

    Mylan said the Food and Drug Administration approved its irbesartan tablets in the 75 mg, 150 mg and 300 mg strengths and irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide tablets in the 150 mg/12.5 mg and 300 mg/12.5 mg strengths. The drugs are respectively generic versions of Sanofi's Avapro and Avalide.
