  • Teva launches ADHD drug

    NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Pharmaceuticals has introduced a generic drug for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the company said.

    Teva announced the launch of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules in the 20-mg, 30-mg and 40-mg strength. The drug, a generic version of Novartis' Ritalin, is available in 100-pill bottles.

  • FDA approves weight-loss drug

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new weight-loss drug made by Vivus, the agency said.

    The FDA announced the approval of Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) extended-release, designed for use by overweight and obese adults alongside a reduced-calorie diet and exercise for chronic weight management. The drug's original brand name was Qnexa.

  • Premama launches prenatal supplement drink mix

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Premama recently launched its patent-pending prenatal supplement in drink form. The flavorless Premama mix can be added to flavored drinks and foods.

    The supplement mix contains six calories per serving. The key ingredients include biotin, B vitamins, omega-3, iron, CoQ-10, choline, ginger root and folic acid. In addition to supporting health during pregnancy, the ginger root helps with nausea relief, the company stated.

    A one-month supply retails for $25 on the company's website.

  • Coconut Numerical collection arrives from Yankee Candle

    SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — Yankee Candle has introduced a new limited-edition collection.

    The Coconut Numerical line offers five fragrances that are available in large tumbler and novelty filled canister varieties, along with coordinating accessories. The lineup includes coconut and sea air, coconut and beach flower, coconut and mandarin, coconut and lime, and coconut and vanilla bean scents.

  • Ice Breakers Duo makes market debut

    HERSHEY, Pa. — Hershey recently expanded its Ice Breakers line.

    New Ice Breakers Duo mints combine a sweet, fruity taste with the brand's signature cooling crystals, the company said. The mints, which includes raspberry and strawberry flavors, now are available at retailers nationwide in 1.3-oz. containers.

  • Armada, Definitive Homecare announce integration of ApproveRx, CPR+

    FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — A company that develops software for the specialty pharmacy and similar industries has integrated Armada Health Care's prior authorization system into its product.

    Armada and Definitive Homecare Solutions announced the integration of Armada's ApproveRx system with Definitive Homecare's CPR+ specialty pharmacy software. The companies said the integration of the ApproveRx functionality within CPR+ would make it part of the pharmacy dispensing workflow and provide users of CPR+ with "optimal" workflow efficiencies.

    PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Thrifty White Pharmacy is carrying a new prescription drug packaging system that it said would improve adherence.

    With the HealthyPackRx, medications are organized into individual packages labeled with the medication, date and time to be taken, with the intention of preventing patients from taking their drugs incorrectly.

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Anchor Bay Entertainment is gearing up to launch its latest "Chuggington" DVD this fall.

    "Icy Escapades," the "Chuggington" DVD installment, is a new collection of winter adventures that includes six episodes: "Chilly Chuggers," "Snowstruck Wilson," "Wilson's Icy Escapade," "Heave-Ho Harrison," "Hodge Sails Away" and "Rolling Reporter Wilson."
