  • Supplylogix, Kindler & Crimmins Associates to provide inventory management, reverse logistics services

    GRAPEVINE, Texas — Healthcare technology company Supplylogix and consulting firm Kindler & Crimmins Associates will collaborate to deliver inventory management and reverse logistics services to pharmacy chains around the country, the two companies said.

    KCA is led by former Rite Aid VP inventory management Stephen Kindler and Ed Crimmins, former Rite Aid senior director of pharmacy inventory and returns, and helps retailers, manufacturers and distributors increase inventory productivity and reduce return volume.

  • Innovation, RxSafe announce distribution partnership

    JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — A new agreement between Innovation and RxSafe allows Innovation to distribute RxSafe's line of automated, high-density robotic storage and retrieval systems for pharmacies, the two companies said.

    Innovation makes the PharmASSIST line of pharmacy automation products, while RxSafe makes the RxSafe and RxVault systems.

  • ScriptPro unveils compact dispensing technology

    MISSION, Kan. — Often smaller, less busy stores don’t have space for large robotic dispensing machines.


    Enter ScriptPro. The Mission, Kan.-based pharmacy technology provider is unveiling its new Compact Robotic System at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Pharmacy and Technology Conference in Boston. The CRS is designed for small and medium-sized pharmacies whose space limitations would make larger systems impractical.


  • Report: Google settles with federal government over illegal pharmacy ad allegations

    NEW YORK — Google has settled with the federal government for $500 million over allegations that it displayed advertisements for black-market pharmacies, according to published reports.

    The New York Times reported that Google would pay to settle an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice that it had displayed ads from online pharmacies that sell drugs without prescriptions and sometimes sell counterfeit drugs.

  • Hi-res imaging technology enables Rx verification

    The National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Pharmacy and Technology Conference in Boston will feature a multitude of suppliers showcasing everything from new drugs and devices to online services and pharmacy automation equipment. Among those suppliers is Innovation, which will display its latest machine for automating the counting and processing of medications, after having showed it at Cardinal Health’s Retail Business Conference in Las Vegas last month.


  • Simplify My Meds — a new NCPA tool to drive compliance, increase scripts

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association on Monday launched Simplify My Meds, an innovative adherence program that provides pharmacists with the tools to help coordinate patients’ prescription refills to a single day of the month, for its independent community pharmacy members.

    The new model facilitates a more comprehensive and coordinated level of pharmacy care, reduces the potential for gaps in therapy and promotes improved medication adherence, the NCPA stated.

  • BD completes Carmel Pharma acquisition

    FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Becton, Dickinson and Co. now owns the manufacturer of the PhaSeal system.

    BD said it has completed its acquisition of Sweden-based Carmel Pharma. Through the deal, BD now owns Carmel's PhaSeal, a leading closed-system drug transfer device for the safe handling of hazardous drugs that are packaged in vials.

  • Health Market Science appoints former Dendrite exec as SVP

    KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. — Data and data management services provider Health Market Science has appointed Mark Cieplik as SVP life sciences sales, the company said.

    In his new position, Cieplik will be responsible for revenue growth and client satisfaction in HMS' largest business segment.

    Prior to working for HMS, Cieplik worked in sales, marketing and operations leadership positions for nine years at Dendrite, now Cegedim.
