  • Fred's reports September, YTD sales

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s reported sales for its fiscal month of September, as well as the year-to-date as of Oct. 1 on Thursday. The company reported a 5.5% decrease in September sales — $199.9 million, compared to $211.4 million in the same period in 2015. Comparable store sales decreased 4.9%, compared to a rise of 4.2% last year. 
     
  • PwC: Mobile devices will drive 10% lift in overall holiday spend

    NEW YORK - Holiday spending is expected to reach its highest point since the Great Recession, increasing 10% compared with the 2015 holiday season to an average of $1,121 each, according to PwC's 2016 Holiday Outlook released Tuesday. And consumers with annual household incomes less than $50,000 will likely increase their percentage spending levels even more than consumers overall.

    ZAANDAM, The Netherlands — Ahold Delhaize on Wednesday announced that management board member James McCann had resigned to move into non-executive and advisory roles. The company has named Kevin Holt, Delhaize America CEO and Ahold Delhaize management board member, as his successor.

    NEW YORK – The Private Label Manufacturers Association will feature Fox News star Chris Wallace as its headliner during PLMA’s 2016 Private Label Trade Show in Chicago in November.

    PLMA says it invited Wallace to share his views of what a new administration taking up residence in the White House could mean for the business community and the country moving forward.
