  • Harris Teeter plans grand opening for Bowie, Md. store

    MATTHEWS, N.C. — Harris Teeter is inviting its customers to the grand opening of its newest store. The company announced Tuesday that it would be holding a grand opening on Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. to christen its Bowie, Md. location. 
     
    The grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony and a Taste of Teeter sampling event, which showcases the store’s products.

    SAN FRANCISCO - McKesson on Monday announced that more than 18,000 McKesson employees at more than 180 locations across the U.S. and Canada will participate in the annual "Community Days" volunteer event. Held Sept. 19 - 30, 2016, Community Days lets employees give back and raise awareness about the struggle many cancer patients face to afford basic items during chemotherapy treatment.

  • Weis Markets expands pharmacy into three former Mars locations

    SUNBURY, Pa.  – Weis Markets on Friday announced it has opened full-service pharmacies in three former Mars locations which now operate as Weis Markets’ stores. The pharmacies are located in its Essex, Wise Avenue and Holabird Avenue stores in Dundalk.

    In late July, Weis Markets converted five Mars locations to Weis Markets stores, including units in Carney and Arbutus and opened them on Aug. 4.

  • Bartell Drugs opens 65th store

    SEATTLE — Over the weekend, Bartell Drugs opened its 65th store in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, holding a grand opening event on Sept. 17. The 11,656-sq. ft. store is seen by the chain as a signature store in its urban expansion and is located across from a commuter and Amtrak train station.
     
  • Report: Holiday shopping, driven by digital, to get early start

    CHICAGO — Gone are the days when Black Friday signified the official launch of the holiday shopping season. 
     
    In fact, nearly half (49%) of shoppers will have a bulk of their holiday shopping done by Thanksgiving Day, according to a new survey from market intelligence solutions provider Market Track. And digital deals will be the catalyst.
