  • Walmart Foundation pledges $500K in Louisiana flood relief efforts

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart and the Walmart Foundation on Monday made a commitment to provide support through cash and in-kind donations of $500,000 to organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Louisiana. Working closely with the Salvation Army, American Red Cross and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, coordination efforts are being made with elected officials and governmental entities across the region to meet the needs of those affected by the overwhelming flooding in the Louisiana region this week.

  • Rite Aid Foundation makes significant contribution to American Red Cross Louisiana Capital Area

    CAMP HILL, Pa. - The Rite Aid Foundation announced Monday a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross Louisiana Capital Area to help the victims, families and communities across the greater Baton Rouge area that were affected by the historic rainfall and flooding over the weekend.   

  • Fred’s launches 14th annual Hero Hats program

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s Pharmacy announced Monday that it would be kicking off its 14th annual Hero Hats program, which raises money for emergency responders and, for the first time this year, military organizations. The program will run through Sept. 12, allowing customers to purchase hero hats. 
     
  • Kroger pairs customer flu shots to philanthropic food drive

    CINCINNATI - Kroger on Monday announced a new health and wellness campaign in partnership with The Little Clinic and Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. From Aug. 15, 2016 through April 1, 2017 Kroger will donate one meal through the Feeding America network of food banks for every flu shot administered at all Kroger family of pharmacies or The Little Clinic locations.

  • Giant/Martin's raise nearly $600,000 for kids' hospitals

    CARLISLE, Pa. – Customers and associates at Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets donated $599,688 through the annual Children’s Miracle Network balloon campaign. 

    “This year marks our 20th anniversary of supporting CMN,” said Tom Lenkevich, Giant/Martin's president. “Together with our customers, associates and vendors we have raised more than $41 million to help provide brighter and healthier futures for thousands of children within our local communities.”

  • Walgreens kicks off 2016/2017 influenza season, announces flu shot availability

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens is now offering flu shots at all of its pharmacies, including Duane Reade pharmacies in New York, and at all Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations, the  company announced Monday.

  • Publix invites customers to its first-ever blog

    LAKELAND, Fla.-- Publix Super Markets is expanding its online outreach by launching the company’s first blog for engaging with customers.

    The blog, called Publix Checkout, was created with the customer in mind, the company says. Blog posts will range in topic from recipes, community initiatives and sustainability ideas to holiday entertaining, health and wellness and more. Visitors to the blog can comment on posts or share them on social media sites.

  • Dollar General's store growth hits a big number

    Dollar General continues to expand its store portfolio at a rapid pace.

    The discounter on Monday opened its 13,000th store, in Birmingham, Ala. The company operates approximately 675 stores in Alabama.
