FDA moves to ban most powdered surgical gloves

WASHINGTON -- The Food and Drug Administration proposed banning powdered surgical gloves on Monday, saying the powder can carry dangerous allergens into the air.

The FDA says that while use of these gloves is decreasing, they pose an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness or injury to health care providers, patients and other individuals who are exposed to them, which cannot be corrected through new or updated labeling.

DEERFIELD, Ill. - The Walgreens Flu Index on Thursday indicated that most of the nation is contending with relatively high levels of flu incidence for the week of March 13, with Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee topping the charts in states with flu activity. Among states, the biggest flu incidence gainers for the week were Kentucky, Deleware and South Dakota.

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens Boots Alliance on Friday announced that it has exercised warrants to purchase 22.7 million shares of AmerisourceBergen common stock for an aggregate payment of approximately $1.2 billion.

The transaction was funded using existing cash on hand.

After today’s exercise of these warrants, Walgreens Boots Alliance now owns 34.2 million shares of AmerisourceBergen common stock, or 15% percent of AmerisourceBergen’s outstanding equity.
