    WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association named Valerie Nolt, PharmD, as the inaugural recipient of the Ton Hoek Scholarship.

  • Food Lion names Store Manager of the Year

    SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion named Wendy Thompson, store manager at its 2710 Roberts Ave. location in Lumberton, N.C., its 2016 Ralph W. Ketner Store Manager of the Year.

    Thompson was honored at an event in Salisbury on Feb. 16. Also Food Lion’s Southern Division winner, she has been a Food Lion associate for 22 years, including 14 as a store manager.

  • Albertsons Foundation, Entertainment Industry Foundation earn 2 nominations for 2017 Halo Awards

    BOISE, Idaho — The Albertsons Foundation’s efforts with the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise awareness and funds to end childhood hunger in America, Hunger Is, has been nominated for two 2017 Halo Awards. The foundations announced their nomination for awards, presented by Engage for Good, Wednesday.

    LONDON — Based on its recent analysis of the sleep apnea therapy market, Frost & Sullivan on Wednesday recognized SnooZeal with the 2017 European New Product Innovation Award.

  • Students honored in CVS-funded anti-smoking PSA contest

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Student filmmakers from high schools and middle schools throughout California took home regional honors in the third-annual Anti-Tobacco Video Contest for the Public Service Announcements produced to raise awareness of the dangers of tobacco.

    The contest was organized by Breathe California as part of a $100,000 grant from CVS Health. Middle- and high-school students from Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Jose and San Francisco were invited to submit a PSA video on their vision of the first tobacco-free generation.

  • Products You Love, SpaLife win DSN/ECRM Buyers’ Choice Awards

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Products You Love, a Laguna Beach, Calif.-based supplier of beauty accessories, was the winner of the 2017 ECRM/Drug Store News Buyers Choice Award for its Polish Pal patented nail polish holder. The award was presented during ECRM’s Cosmetics, Fragrance & Bath EPPS held last month in Jacksonville, Fla. SpaLife, a Rahway, N.Y.-based supplier of natural at-home beauty treatments, was a finalist for its line of handmade fruit soaps.
     
  • Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens and CVS among those honored for inclusion

    SOUTHPORT, Conn. — Walmart, Kroger, Target, Walgreens, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Ahold USA, Cardinal Health and CVS Health were all named as top 50 U.S. corporations for inclusion by Omnikal (formerly Diversity Business). The Omni50 is a listing of the top 50 corporate and government buyers of products and services from an inclusive supply chain throughout the country.
