The conference is designed to provide attendees with tangible, information and best practices that are easy to take home and implement in their own stores to improve their performance and profitability.

  • Independent Pharmacy Cooperative awards 8 scholarships

    SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Independent Pharmacy Cooperative on Tuesday announced the recipients of their 2017 student scholarshps. Eight pharmacy student winners were awarded a $1,500 scholarship, with matching funds from McKesson.

    "We must be proactive in supporting the next generation of independent pharmacists," stated Don Anderson, IPC president and CEO. "IPC is proud to encourage the career growth and development of these exceptional future pharmacists."

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — In an attempt to gauge patients’ attitudes toward the cost of prescription drugs, CVS Health in April conducted a survey of registered voters, whose results the company released Thursday. The survey found that 88% of respondents are somewhat or very concerned about the high cost of prescription drugs.

  • NACDS urges Congress to pass provider status legislation

    WASHINGTON — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores this week shared with the House Ways and Means Committee the important role pharmacy plays in the nation’s healthcare system in an effort to encourage passage of legislaton giving pharmacists provider status under Medicare Part B.

    The Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act has been introduced in both the House and Senate, and NACDS’ statement looked to drum up support by outlining the work pharmacists do for patients, particularly in medically underserved areas.

  • Surescripts progress report shows nearly 11B transactions last year

    ARLINGTON, Va. — Surescripts recently released its 2016 National Progress Report, highlighting the fact that its network facilitated 10.9 billion secure transactions last year, including 1.6 billion electronic prescriptions — a 12% increase over 2015. The company’s interoperable network connected 21.5% more healthcare professionals than it did in 2015 — 1.3 million — with 230 million patients.
