  • Fruth Pharmacy hires, promotes 3

    POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Fruth Pharmacy announced three personnel announcements, promoting Drew Massey to director of pharmacy operations, promoting John Galvan to VP of operations, and hiring Andy Becker as director of pharmacy administration.

    Massey, formerly clinical services and pharmacy scheduler, joined Fruth in 2014. He previously worked with clinical services and also with Fruth’s intern program.

  • Industry considers swift return of provider status legislation positive momentum

    ARLINGTON, Va. – Provider status is back on the Congressional menu as the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act (S. 109) was reintroduced Thursday with the bipartisan original co-sponsorship of more than one-quarter of the U.S. Senate. The return of that critical piece of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives also is anticipated shortly.

  • National Association of Specialty Pharmacy names new president and president-elect

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy named Rebecca Shanahan president and Mike Agostino president-elect effective Jan. 1.

    Each served on the non-profit organization’s board of directors and executive committee. Shanahan, a 20-plus year industry veteran and CEO of Avella Specialty Pharmacy, is succeeding Burt Zweigenhaft in the role.

  • Lewis Drug adds new patient service

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Lewis Drug will implement the iMedicare platform at its 45 pharmacy locations.

    The iMedicare platform provides a software solution allowing customers to find and switch Medicare plans during the open enrollment period, and continues to offer the resource throughout the year.

  • McKesson completes Rexall Health acquisition

    SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson completed its acquisition of Rexall Health for $2.1 billion.

  • Pharmacists held in high regard

    NEW YORK — Pharmacists rank second when it comes to honesty and ethical values, behind only nurses, according to an annual Gallup poll.

    Of those surveyed, two-thirds rated pharmacists with a very high or high grade, while only 8% gave pharmacists a low or very low score.

  • Diplomat named National Standard amid Michigan’s Top Workplaces

    FLINT, Mich. — The Detroit Free Press has recognized Diplomat Pharmacy as one a 2016 Top Workplaces National Standard, the company announced Thursday. 
     
    The results come from an employee survey administered by research firm WorkplaceDynamics. The survey measured such aspects of workplace culture as alignment, execution and connection. This is the third year in a row the company has made the Top Workplaces list, and its fourth overall, having received the recognition in 2012 as well.
