    DEERFIELD, Ill. –  Walgreens and Piedmont Healthcare on Wednesday announced that Piedmont Healthcare will operate and provide all clinical services at 27 retail health clinics located within Walgreens stores across the Atlanta area.

    TAMPA, Fla. — Benzer Pharmacy will be introducing a pharmacy residency program, the company announced Wednesday. The post-grad training program is aimed at providing pharmacy students with training that focuses on clinical care.

  • FDA approves Valeant’s Siliq for plaque psoriasis

    WASHINGTON — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Valeant Pharmaceuticals’s Siliq (brodalumab) to treat adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

    Siliq is administered as an injection. It is intended for patients who are candidates for systemic therapy (treatment using substances that travel through the bloodstream, after being taken by mouth or injected) or phototherapy (ultraviolet light treatment) and have failed to respond, or have stopped responding to other systemic therapies. 

  • Upsher-Smith, NASPA partner to honor pharmacists

    MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — Upsher-Smith Laboratories and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations have recognized 43 pharmacists across the country with a 2016 NASPA Excellence in Innovation Award. Presented annually, the award recognized pharmacists during 2016 for their outstanding contributions to the pharmacy profession. 
     
  • Texas Pharmacy Association set to roll out adherence project

    AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Pharmacy Association announced recently that it had received a grant from the Community Pharmacy Foundation and the Texas Dept. of State Health Services to develop and implement new community-based digital linkages between pharmacists and providers that is set to kick off this month.
     
  • Omnicell introduces VBM 200F

    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Omnicell launched its VBM 200F, which includes an automated multimed packing solution intended to assist pharmacists in improving their patients’ medication adherence. The new product, which expands Omnicell’s medication adherence portfolio, specifically has an automated system for filling and checking its SureMed by Omnicell multimed blister cards.

  • London Drugs hosts Healthy Heart Clinic for Heart Health Month

    RICHMOND, British Columbia — As part of Heart Month in Canada, London Drugs pharmacists are hoping to boost public awareness of the risk factors and are encouraging Canadians to take preventative action by attending a Healthy Heart Clinic running Feb. 6 through March 23 at 68 London Drugs locations.
