  • Jelly Belly launches line of Snapple-flavored beans

    FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly Candy Co. has teamed up with beverage brand Snapple to create a new line of Jelly Belly beans with Snapple Juice Drinks.

    The candy maker began at the source with Snapple Juice Drink concentrates in five Snapple flavors: Fruit Punch, Mango Madness, Cranberry Raspberry, Pink Lemonade and Kiwi Strawberry. 

    Jelly Belly Snapple Mix flavors are made from real fruit juice and purees. These jelly beans have no artificial coloring; the colors come from natural fruit and vegetables, the manufacturer stated. 

  • Supervalu hosts Family Day at the Stockman & Dakota Corral at 11 stores

    MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu said that its banners are hosting an event at 11 locations nationwide on Saturday to celebrate the company's private-label Angus premium beef brand.

    The Family Day at the Stockman & Dakota Corral event will include games, a celebrity grill-off showdown and more.

    The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time on Saturday, with the celebrity grill-off showdown will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • General Mills completes Yoplait acquisition

    PARIS — General Mills now has a 51% stake in Yoplait S.A.S. and a 50% interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands, the company announced Friday.

    General Mills acquired the ownership stakes from Europe-based private equity firm PAI Partners and Sodiaal, the largest dairy cooperative in France, for about $1.2 billion. With this transaction, Yoplait will be governed by a supervisory board with representation from General Mills and Sodiaal, as the remaining ownership stakes in both entities will continue to be held by Sodiaal.

  • Little Hug Fruit Barrels embraces new flavors, packaging

    PITTSBURGH — American Beverage has reformulated its Little Hug Fruit Barrels beverage line for kids.

    The drinks now tout just 10 calories and have been fortified with vitamins B and E. Additionally, Little Hug Fruit Barrels' packaging has been updated to feature bright colors and a new brand logo.

    LOS ANGELES — Magic Bullet has teamed up with celebrity mom Jenny McCarthy to introduce a limited-edition product designed for McCarthy's charitable organization, Generation Rescue.

    New Rescue Bullet is a blue, limited-edition Magic Bullet that will benefit Generation Rescue, an organization that provides guidance and support for medical treatment, which directly improves the quality of life for children living with autism spectrum disorders, as well as for all families in need.

  • Winn-Dixie donates more than 6 million meals through food recovery program

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After piloting a food recovery program in 2009 and expanding it to all of its stores last year, Winn-Dixie announced Monday that it has provided more than 6 million meals to the affiliate food banks of Feeding America.

    The grocer partners with local Feeding America affiliate food banks in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana, donating perishable items that reach their "sell by" date but are still usable and nutritious to feed the hungry, Winn-Dixie said.
